Hard times for Luna and Lily (and mommy)

As you may have seen in General, my bathroom is being retiled and renovated right now. Work has started last week on Tuesday, and will last till the end of this week. I hope the worst will be behind us by Thursday.

Needless to say, with the workers being around here all day, the entire place looks like a mess; and since the apartment door is open all the time while the workers are here, Luna and Lily have to stay in the bedroom with me, for their own safety. I'm with them most of the time, so you can say that the girls and I are more or less prisoners in our own home.

But to my surprise, Luna and Lily are accepting the unsettling situation very well and without complaining. Sometimes they'd let me know that they want to take a look at what's going on outside, so I'd carry them around and let them see what's going on the bathroom. After that, they're happy to go back to the bedroom with me.

They're really sweet and don't seem to mind the noise and the voices of the workers outside. The only thing that's not so great is that Lily has started attacking Luna everytime she tries to use the box (I've set up a plastic bowl with cat litter as a temporary litter box here in my bedroom as long as they are in here with me). Guess she's doing that because she's bored, but knowing Luna, I fear that this may trigger her litter box problems. But so far, she's been a good girl and hasn't peed somewhere else.

I'm really proud of my girls and the way they're dealing with this. But I can't wait till this week is over so I can use my bathroom again!

Maybe if you play with them -- especially Lily -- with a dangling toy on a string for 5 minutes 2 or 3 times per day, this will help "take the edge off?"

This too shall pass! What doesn't kill you makes you stronger! Lily and Luna, you are troopers and you need to coexist in a small place but think about how BIG your place will be when it's all done. Lily! Behave yourself! Please don't stress out your meowmie any more than she already is! Be nice to Luna and go play with something to distract you from the noise outside your door!
Kristen, things do get better. Be glad you have your girls to keep you company until you are "sprung" from your prison. It's all for the best. Gentle hugs to the three of you!

Once the bathroom is completed, you won't even remembe the inconvenience. Soon you'll have a new and modern one and all will be forgotten.

Won't be much longer girls and you will have free run of your home again. Consider this a "camping out" vacation with your Mom. Just think, you will have a new room in the house to go sniff and check out! It's going to smell different for sure and it's sure going to be pretty once you Mom adds her special touches to it. Won't be long before this will just be a bad memory.

Hang in there Kirsten, won't be much longer!:) I'm facing a similar situation with having a new roof put on my house. Although only one day, it will be misery trapped in here with the furkids and them pounding on the roof all day! I considered taking the pups and leaving for part of the day but my poor kitty would be scared to death!:( Guess I'll be on PT a lot that day!:D

It's the last day today that the workers are here! I will have a lot of cleaning after that, but I'll be glad to get my life back (and my bathroom)! I'm really surprised how well Luna and Lily dealt with the situation, and I'm really proud of them! :love:

Lily and Luna will have a lot of sniffing to do - so many new smells with the new bathroom - and they will forget about their prison time.

They're done! :) Yesterday in the afternoon, they finished their job, and in a couple of hours, I can start cleaning and putting my things back into the room (couldn't do this earlier because the silicon still needs to dry).

However, my party was ruined a little bit when I learned yesterday that today around noon someone will show up here and check all the windows (it's a service of the company that once installed the windows). That means more mess, and for Luna and Lily, it means that they have to be kept behind closed doors again because there's no way I will leave them in a room with open windows! Much too dangerous! So this means more stress for all of us, but I hope this will soon be done. And after that, I will start working on my new bathroom!

Hang in there girls! Prison time is almost over. Chester feels your pain. He spent almost 3 days under the bed when a water line outside the house broke and the plumbers were digging up the yard and fixing it. He is glad we have water now though. :love:
