It is not common for a Koala to bear twins, and regrettable in this instance the Mum was struck and killed by a passing car. Fortunately, the driver stopped, and took the mother to the local vet, unbeknown she was dead, - where it was discovered she had these twins in her pouch.

Oh my goodness, Wom! I agree with Karen, thank goodness they were rescued -- they are so adorable! Where will they live, will they go to a zoo?

They'll probably go to a wildlife park. They'll get looked after there.

Awww! So cute!:love::love::love: And beautiful!

I have heard it was very tricky to have marsupial babies survive out of the pouch. I don't know for koalas specifically, I guess it also depends on their development stage. But when I see them, I am convinced they were extremely lucky :cool: A pity the mom is not here anymore :(

Yes, it has a lot to do with development. Because when they are born, they are so small, almost the size of a bean, and they sort of wriggle and crawl until they get into the pouch and lock onto a teet.
We raised a very young kangaroo once, he was pretty small, and was rejected by his mother. We nursed him and when he was big enough we nailed a sugar bag to a fence post and the joey would use that as his pouch.
He never went far from our house, until he matured, then he must have thought about all those girl kangaroos he was missing out on......we seen him less and less then, until finally he just went away.

How incredibly precious. Now that is the kind of baby I wouldn't mind raising.

Where did the photos come from? Do you work at a wildlife center? They are awfully cute. Just curious if this was a story from a paper or if you yourself took part in their care.

I raise marsupials for pets. :)

Everything you read will tell you the Thylacine is extinct, however there has been some recent research and evidence that shows this species still exist.

I had the pics sent to me from a mate in Queensland, so I don't know where this actually happened. It could have been anywhere really, we have lots of places around that do that. Where I live, we have a group called "WIRES", and if someone finds a hurt or sick wild animal, they phone them and they organise someone who knows about a particular animal to pick up the animal and care for it. As is usually the case, these animals sometimes just go to peoples homes, and are looked after there. It's sort of a network really.

Well, some say they do still exist. Tasmania still has a lot of very wild country, so who knows....right ????
A lot of people don't go into those areas because it is overgrown and very wet and cold, and there is Manfern there, which is quite dangerous.
