A little recap about the christmas card exchange~

For the past few years Pet Talk has hosted (usually by myself) an annual Christmas card exchange. People who'd like to participate PM me their information and we all send cards to eachother. :) You must send cards to *everyone* on your list. Postage has become a bit spendy so please make sure you can commit to sending to each and every member before you sign up. There are some Pet Talkers who do not live in the U.S. therefor postage will be a bit higher when sending out your cards to these people. This really is a lot of fun! It is a great delight to receive cards from fellow members. A lot of people include pictures of their family and pets. It's fun to decorate the house in cards from fellow pet lovers across the world. :)

If you would like to participate please PM (private message) me the following information no later than Nov. 13th:

Your Pet Talk user name
Your full name and address
Your family and pet names if you would like them to be included on the card

After I have received everyone's information I will send a list out via PM to you so you know who you have to send to. You *must* send to each and every member. Please do not just pick your favorite pet talkers and leave the rest out. If you wish to do this you should PM your buddies and arrange this amongst yourself.

***As a general rule you must be an active member here for at least 3 months in order to participate. ***

If you read the first post, it says you'll receive a pm from her after the list is complete. Since people can sign up until Nov. 13th, you should receive a pm soon after that.

I'm having trouble with Pet Talk folks. I cannot post photos or send im's? :confused: Karen, do you think if I went to another computer it would work? I don't think I had that problem until I started using this computer. I might just wind up emailing it to everyone if I cannot get it sent any other way.

Oh, and so you know what the problem is...it popped up a box saying it had a sentax (sp?) error and if it continutes to contact the site manager or something like that.

luckies - if you are getting a 'syntax' warning, it means that a semi-colon is missing between one or more of the user names. Also - the maximum number of people you can send a PM to used to be 12. Maybe that has changed.

She is mailing a list of many people's home addresses. Does she really need to keep email addresses private? LOL...just seems kind of TSA'ish in the rationale.

I know what you mean, Cataholic - it's just an option for her. We do all know each other here, and I doubt there are any spammers lurking that would want the whole list of addresses! That's the usual reason given for using BCC - aside from privacy, more protection from spammers.:)

Well this has turned out to be more time consuming than I thought. I cannot PM the list unless it is in 2 sections. I sent some through PM and some through email. I really hope I did the email thing right. I put a comma in between the email addresses so hopefully that works. I will have to send the rest of them out tomorrow as it is nearing 3 am and I need to be to work at 7. :eek: Not much sleep for me tonight. ;)

LOL This year I finished Christmas shopping, put up the tree and sent out all the PT cards all this week! Now I have the whole month to not fret about shopping and just enjoy the holidays!:p

Well I haven't even started anything yet. I'm still debating on whether I should create a Christmas picture of my furkids or not. I usually already have one done by now and then I usually try to get all of my PT cards done during the Thanksgiving holidays. My cards will most likely be later than usual this year. I just can't seem to get into the Christmas spirit just yet.

Well I was able to design a picture this year after all. Hopefully everyone will like it. I've included all 6 furkids and also my 3 RB furkids. I didn't put names but I think that most people should know who is who by now. I've printed them all out and I've cut some of them out. I hope to finish cutting out all of the pictures and get a lot of my cards finished.

All I have left to do is buy (and apply the stamps). U.S. stamps can be
bought here where I am living; they can be mailed next Mon and/or Tues.
I will have to wait until someone can go to the post office and that may not be until next Thurs. This may be the first year the U.S. ones are sent before the overseas and Canadian cards.

Participating in this card exchange has really been a neat experience for me. First going to the post office and sending cards to the 4 corners of the world.

Mary, both your cards reached me today! One was wrapped in a nice plastic envelope by Canada Post, printed with an apology for damage. The card was just fine - but somehow three of the original envelope's sides were slightly shredded which meant the card could have fallen out.

Unfortunately I encountered a blip with sorting the correct airmail (mea culpa!) and my cards ended up having to be re-posted. With the snow causing havoc with air travel, as far as I know my cards could still be on the ground. Hopefully they'll reach you before New Year! My apologies.

I do have my usual complaint and the person behind my agony knows who they are.


Every year I tell myself that when I open a certain card I will be ready for the surprise inside. This year I forgot, opened the card but was able to catch the cascade of Christmas related stars and other symbols before they hit the ground..

I laughed, grabbed a sheet of paper and deposited them onto it. I carefully folded the paper and placed it into my pen/pencil holder.

A few days later I as looking for something to write on and the same paper I had enclosed the glitter into.


It really didn't matter how much care I took to keep them off the floor.:):p:D


You know who are. One day I will return that favor.

I can vouch for that. I just looked, and the form on the back of the envelope she sent all the cards to me in (which looks like it's been through a war) says she sent them way back on December 23rd. They did not arrive to me until February 1st, and we were in the middle of two huge storms that day and the next, so I didn't get them sent out with proper American postage until Friday the 4th!

When my young niece went to England for a seminar, she purchased a small teapot that is in the shape and color of the phone booth on the card. I just love the teapot so when I got your card Zara I fell in love with it too.
