Any fellow Glee fans out there?

What did you think of last night's episode?

It's getting lots of praise online, but I thought it had some flaws, anyone wanna talk about it?

And yes, I was in chorus in high school, we didn't have a "glee club" but chorus did the musicals as well as everything standard. And I was in band, too.

I didn't see it! :(

I bought a T-shirt on Cafepress that says "Band Geek" in big letters. I was an extreme band nerd both in high school and college.

I watched it. I became a fan last year after the season was over, so I've spent the summer getting caught up.

I was disappointed with the premiere. It didn't feel eventful enough - like that I felt like I wanted to keep watching. I hope that they keep Sunshine.. she's AMAZING!

What did you think, Karen?

I love Glee, but I'm currently without cable and no time to watch things on the computer :p I do rock out to my Glee CDs on car trips though!

I do think all the singing was well-performed, but think that it is stretching it a bit to think absolutely no new people would show up for Glee, there's a whole new class of freshmen at the school, so shouldn't there at least be a few unafraid geeks, especially given the number of girls lined up to try out for cheerleading?

Also, with Rachel's big solo, it seemed a bad choice - because it is hard to believe her character did what she did out of love for anyone but herself ... so "What I Did For Love" seems wrong ...

I can't STAND that show.
April watches it, and I go sit elsewhere.
What is with that girl with the real dark eyebrows ??? She needs to shave.

Now, now, some of us are naturally blessed with, shall we say abundant eyebrows - her character has two gay Dads, so they may not be the best at offering feminine beauty advice!

You'd probably flinch at mine, too - but in my case, at least some of the eyebrow hairs have always been blonde, not as noticeable as my siblings' even darker ones!

I love Rachel's character, so I find just about anything she does pretty hilarious.

It didn't seem weird to me that no one signed up because of the reputation of the club. Word like that travels fast!

I was also looking forward to Will and Sue working together, but he's too soft I guess!

I think Rachel needs some competition... I'd have LOVED for Sunshine to stay.

I didn't really like the opening show for the season. I did like bits and pieces, but Rachel and her conniving ways just turns me off.

My hairdresser invariably says "Why don't you let me "do" your brows sometime?" to which I reply "They'll just grow back in, besides, they're part of who I am! People wouldn't recognize me without 'em!"

Karen, I heard on the news that this week's "Glee" was watched by over 13 million people. Once again I missed it and forgot to record it. I just found out that Jane Lynch is from Chicago :)

That's why I love my DVR - we just set it to record a show and it never forgets! :) This week's show seemed a little odd, like it was a Britney Spears show, a little forced, but at least some character development was moved along ...

Rachel makes an AWFUL Britney! I was so disappointed in her performance. I loved her singing the Paramour song though.. beautiful!

It was also a bit much having Artie do a Britney solo.. weird.

It was nice to see Will perform, but the whole thing was really creepy with how he performed with the students!

I am a Gleek and proud of it. :D
I love the guy who plays Finn. He's about 3 years older than me in real life.

Well you know only the real Brittany Spears can play herself well. ;) Lea Michelle who plays Rachel is a good actress and singer. I think she pulled it off pretty well. I think she can pull off anything. She has amazing talent!!
The girl who played Sunshine last week was really good, too bad they only gave her a few parts. Maybe she will be on in the future. Did anyone recognize John Stamos who plays Carl? ;) He is a hottie way too old for me but he played "Jesse" in Full House.

What did you all think of last night's episode? I do think it was the best of the season so far, and I had tears in my eyes several times. It could have been pretty cheesy, but I thought they handled the whole topic extremely well.

I won't say anything else about specifics in case others have recorded it but haven't watched it yet, but I thought even the song choices were extremely appropriate, and even the scene with Mercedes' church was great, and that's usually not done very well.

I liked it and have a wad of tissues to prove it. I'm more prone to the campier episodes. I LOVED the Brit episode last week (as much as I'm not a Brit fan) It was pretty great.
However, I Want To Hold Your Hand, I LOVED. I'm a Beatles freak and love how it was treated in Across The Universe too. Not so pop as much as heartfelt. LOVE GLEE!!

Yes, I was worried what song they would choose, but "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" fit perfectly, and heartachingly sung. That was one where I got tears in my eyes, and I am usually pretty stoic watching TV.

I thought the episode really handled religion very well, and was pretty darned respectful of each character's beliefs without being preachy.

And I simply adored the "You had me a fabulous hat" line, and the outfits of people in Mercedes' church, just so very well done without making fun.

Oh, and I thought the child they chose to play younger Kurt was a GREAT choice, really looked a lot like him!

What are people's opinions about the new photo spread in GQ? I haven't read the story, so I am curious about why they went with that style of photo, but I've seen the pictures and they are pretty racy, especially Lea Michelle!

I was disappointed when I saw the photos (what they could show on TV, anyway).

I believe they took the photos last summer. Probably trying to draw in more male viewers. But, do we really need to see another crotch shot? Do we really need another photo of a guy grabbing his co-star's butt?

Did anyone see last night's show yet?

I did, and as the opening part was sung, it took me a second to figure out whose mouth it was, but I knew pretty quickly. Turns out there was some guessing online - some folks thinking it was Quinn, some thinking Tina ... but I was right on who it actually was ...

*** Did you figure it out? I am VERY visually oriented, so maybe I have an advantage.

anyway, the show revealed it today, it was

Santana - did you guess that?

i thought they did a decent job at Rocky Horror - I couldn't imagine how they were going to tame it to be acceptable at an Ohio high school, but it was pretty well put together. And I loved that they performed the show just for their own selves at the end, not an audience.

I also think Kurt's character should never sing in that low a range - it is not his best voice for sure!

Oh, and as for the GQ "controversy," I think it is a bit of a stretch - all the actors are adults, after all, they just play high school students. In poor taste? Maybe, but worthy of controversy? I don't think so ...

I enjoyed the show last night, but I didn't really like how it ended. I didn't like how the song ended, and then it was just.... done. I'm not a huge fan of Rocky Horror either, so I wasn't super excited about it.

I knew it was Santanna as well, Karen!

So did anyone see last night's show of Glee? I watched it - we DVR everything - and thought the girl's performance of "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" was so very very well done. Just moving, and not at all corny and false like some numbers can be ...

And I never even was a fan of the original song, I knew it well, but didn't really care for it ... or honestly, give it much thought.

What did you think?

And every once in a while "Moves Like Jagger" has popped into my head today, too.

I loved the performance of First Time I Ever Saw Your Face, and Moves Like Jagger. I was also really impressed with Rachel's version of Without You. I think I might actually like it more than the original.

I used to watch it every now and then during the first season but I sort of drifted away from it. I did hear that there was an Aspie character who was just an awful misrepresentation. Of course I haven't watched it myself but that is what I've been hearing.

A character with Aspergers? I can't think of who that would be. There is a girl on the show that has Down's Syndrome.

I liked last nights show. Moves Like Jagger is one of my favorite songs right now lol and I normally listen to Country. so when it came on the show last night I cheered out loud LOL. it was a sweet episode and I liked the ending :)

I love the episodes where you see a little crack in Sue's hard exterior

I guess her name is Sugar and she is self diagnosed. While self diagnosis is not a problem, (some people don't have the resources to get a proper diagnosis) I guess she's using it as an excuse to be really awful to a lot of people.

Yes, the character claimed to have "Self-diagnosed Aspergers" and used that as an excuse not to self-censor. She thinks that will let her get away with being just plain rude. However, now that she's "in" the group (although she cannot sing well, she can dance okay), she has toned down that behavior.

No one ever portrayed her as really having Aspergers.

So what do you think of the season so far?

And Army folks, would someone really be given a discharge for accidentally firing his rifle while cleaning it, and therefore shooting himself or someone else in the leg? Not that expect reality from Glee, but just curious!

Roxyluvsme13
10-08-2012, 05:37 PM
I think this season is depressing, LOL.

There's no way Finn could've gotten out of the army that easy, so I don't find much truth to Glee's story there, but of course he would be the one to fire his rifle and screw up. It's his character lol.

Sp did anyone catch this week's episode? What did you think?

To me it seemed kind of choppy, and is anyone else bothered by the fact that we never see Sue's baby? Even as a bundle of blankets or anything? And why no mention of treating Marley's mother's eating issues as well as Marley's own?

I dislike that they chopped up so many of the songs - what is wrong with the original beginning to "Have Yourself a Merry little Christmas," why just focus on a few lyrics and repeat them? And did anyone believe, for example, that Rachel, in Artie's dream sequence, would be such a wallflower if Glee never happened? She's been practicing for Broadway since she was a toddler, after all ....

There has been a decent amount of controversy around this week's Glee episode. I actually thought it was a decent and fairly well-done way of dealing with a school shooting incident, and while some people are upset and calling foul at the fact that the actual culprit was Becky, the Down's Syndrome character, I don't think it was badly done at all. I think Becky is probably the most honestly portrayed Down's Syndrome kid on TV currently, and nothing she did was malicious or because of her disability. She is a regular character on the show, and I dare say if any of the other regulars were the culprit, their ethnic or cultural minority group would have cried foul just as well.

But I was happily surprised at the moment, near the end of the episode, when it is revealed that one of the characters has adopted a cat from the shelter, and purposefully got the overweight one that had been there "a long time," which was not only fitting, but suited both characters well. That was an "awww" moment for me, even though the kitty in question was NOT happy about being concealed in a gym bag one bit!

I finally got the chance to curl up with the dogs and catch up on Glee. For the longest time I have been thoroughly unimpressed with recent episodes, but I thought this week's episode was really well done. It kind of renewed my faith in the show.

Sad news today about Glee cast member Cory Monteith. Found dead in his hotel room, only 31 years old. His struggles with addiction were well know, and for now it appears they may have done him in. Rest in peace, sir. Your character touched millions of lives.

I wonder if Glee will address substance abuse and addition at all in the next season ... hard to do tastefully, but it seems more important now.

This has really made me sad today. I haven't watched Glee in a year or more, but seeing someone with such a bright future leave this world so young... just makes me sad.
I have said a prayer for Cory's family as well as Glee cast-mate Lea Michelle, since they had been dating.

I saw this early this morning and was quite surprised and saddened by it. :( I've never kept up with his personal life, so I wasn't aware of his substance abuse. Its hard to see anyone, but young people in particular, struggle with their demons. Even sadder to hear of someone so young losing their life. Hopefully he has found some peace now.

My sister and I were chatting about this earlier and both agreed that we didn't like the character he portrayed while in highschool, but we really took a liking to him in this past season. He'll definitely be missed.

Really thinking about the cast, especially Lea in this awful time. As much as his fans are grieving, I can't imagine how his friends and loved ones are feeling.

Addiction is so difficult for some to combat, and it is tragic. They have released the news that it was a combination of alcohol and heroin that killed him, and that it was likely an accidental death.

There will be some who will say, "He was young, successful, and handsome, why do drugs .." but by his own admission, he had been battling addiction since he was a teenager. You know his early life was not all rosy, and he started taking drugs at age 13. I do hope someone out there earns something from all this.

My church houses many recovery groups, AA, NA and many others, and while that is not the answer for everyone, the members tell us all the time how it has saved their lives.
