Has anyone's dog had this? My Mickey was just diagnosed with it on Friday. She's now at the 24-hour care clinic until her symptoms calm down enough so that I can take over the nursing. I was going to keep her home but she wouldn't eat so I couldn't get her meds in her plus I couldn't get her to stand long enough to get her out to the bathroom. My girl has her head tilted to the side and staggers to the point where she doesn't want to stand up. I felt so bad for her and can't wait to get her back home. By the way, she is 14 so not completey unexpected. What are other's experience w/this?

No experience with it myself, but it's VestiBular Disease. What a pretty girl she is!

Thanks Kareb, I was going off what the vet was telling me so took a guess at how it was spelled so nice to know. It's very strange not having her here at home right now.

Don't know anything about this disease, but Mickey sure is pretty. I hope she's home with you soon.

Vestibular is very common is older dogs. It's often mistaken for a stroke because the symptoms are so much alike in some cases. But it's a self limitting disease and and clears up spontaneously after a few weeks or sooner depending on the dog.

My Delilah is just getting over it. Her antibiotics will be gone tomorrow. Same exact thing. All of a sudden, she was tilting her head and falling down. I'm happy to say she is fine now. It has taken about two weeks for her to get better.
Her vet said the tilt may never go away but her's has, almost 95%. Good luck to you. I have never heard of this disease and it seems I am now hearing about several dogs with it.

Delilah is 11. She wasn't quite as bad as your baby but I've read the symptoms can certainly get that bad.

Get Well Mickey!!
