Hi! I am called the KnightOwl, RoySr, TheWizard Sgt Pop, and some things my wife says should not be posted on public forums, so ..... enough of that, and these are the reasons I haunt nice places like this. Hope we can join the crowd.

Thank you one and all for the fantastic welcome here. I've been an avid, several times a day for several years, visitor to Pet of the Day. Wouldn't miss seeing the little ones' pictures.

I just finished counting tails, getting my kitty loving, refilling water bowls and freshening up crunchy din-din bowls for the two outside kitties (a story for a later date), made the first hairball search of the house for the day, and passed out the scritches, collected my kitty kisses and heard all the purry reports of the past night's happenings from the four boys inside.

The report was a peaceful one. Except the resident raccoon paid a visit and messed up the girls water bowl again. They don't seem to mind so I'll overlook that.

Right now us kitty servants, the humons here at SouthWoodsUSA, have to make a second trip of the new month to the world of civilized folk (you know, the ones what don't really appreciate what Mother Nature has for us to take pix of, and try to enjoy life without playing Road Rage Rangers and ripping up and down the road in front of the house with barnyard fix patch and repair junk-o-mobiles and illegal carts and ATVS on the road. (another story for a later date, this one involving little strays that didn't make it across the road).

Short one now, but long one later. M'Lady, the <b>LadyBug</b> aka <b>Lisa,</b> and I offer out morning greetings to everyone here, and I give you one warning re: future inserts here.

I am long winded, a speed typist, like to say what I think, and can change subject in mid post faster than the cats can rip down the hall playing 'foosball' with the fuzzy 'nip-filled golf ball' looking thingie. (one picture I have been trying to get for over 20 something years, but can't)

Here's one of the boys.

<center><img src=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v305/thewizardsgtpop/Our%20Kitties/Sep09441.jpg>
<b>Buddy Bear,</b> the head of the <b>Clowder SouthWoods</b>
aka <b>'Bubba,'</b> <b>'Cuddly Chops',</b> or more commonly <b>'Old Man'</b>,
our resident 9 year old Ragamuffin/Mississippi longhair rescue
pretends to listen attentively to his <b>Small One</b> humon
as she berates him for yet another of his
almost daily 'mischievous moments".
I'm not thinking the 'talk' did him much good though</center>

For everyone's later perusal (at your leisure) here's the link to Buddy Bear's Blog (http://buddybearscatsworld.blogspot.com/),(which I might say, for the record, is way behind on the updating list. Still ..... I will win this battle, yes I will.

Thanks again to all for the welcomes. I can see it is going to take me a while to get accustomed to the place, and even longer to get to know all the friendlies here. Being pet owned, I'm thinking there won't be many, if any, unfriendly types, so I won't belabour that subject.

Our trip to town was successful, good reading material was picked up from the local library, and surprisingly, the Lady of the House did NOT bankrupt us when we stopped for a few necessities at the superstore.

Now! On to the introduction of the 6 Mouskateers of Five Oaks Manor, SouthWoodsUSA.

Buddy, our leader and resident senior dust mop, is, at present, dozing within a finger's length of my left hand on the monitor shelf, the other insiders scattered about within arms length. All, that is, but my little guy. The is guarding his Small One (M'Lady Lisa) on the futon in the fun room, where both are taking their afternoon nap. Now don't read me wrong here, these little cats are all My Girls and Guys, but this little one is special to me.

<center><img src=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v305/thewizardsgtpop/Our%20Kitties/Miki0610TC1456640x577.jpg>
MikiCato, seven years old, a diminutive shorthair,
is the only member of our family who was searched for.
All my life I have been owned by black kitties.
Long hair, short hair, floofy tail, pencil tail
Something about the sometimes highly disliked Halloween Kitties
I just can't do without.
Suffice to say, just prior to the loss of my last Great love, Princess Ebony (http://catsworld.homestead.com/princesstribute.html),
I went searching and MikiCato (http://catsworld.homestead.com/miki.html) found me
at his first forever home.
He was less than three months old.
My shadow kitty</center>

Now I'll take a break from the history of the SouthWoods Clowder and do a bit of roaming around the threads here. Lot to see, and I must say I am enjoying looking.

I'll be back. There are 4 more of my little owners to be presented here, and I wouldn't miss doing that for the world.

Thanks for that Jen!

We have lost more than a few of the strays, cast-outs, abandoned, and lost cats and kittens we've had visiting/living on our car port (read here, CAT PORCH). The neighborhood has been plagued with good old RedNeck gun slingers that have nothing better to do than shoot the cats others have abandoned when they move out of the trailer homes just down the hill from our acre. Lisa and I have cared for every one that has shown up looking for food and shelter, love and attention. But not being able to keep them from rambling the area searching for their lost families, they have been taken down one by one.

Now there are only 2, and I'm thinking they are residents from up the hill come down hunting for something different than what they have. Money is tight with us, but if they wish to stay, (our two outsiders have already accepted them and share their food and nest/beds with them when they visit) they are more than welcome.

At our age I'm hoping we don't have any more adopting us. We do NOT want to be outlived by our babies. At their ages (all 6 years and older) few, if any folk around here would bother to adopt them.

Greetings and welcome to PT from Mary and the Fur Posse, which is down to 5. The posse has thinned out over the years but, like you, I don't want my furkids to outlive me, so no more adoptions for me. I've learned a lot since becoming a member of the PT family and I'm sure you will, too. :)

Another genuine catlover - how nice! :D Welcome to Pet Talk!

You have some gorgeous kitties there. What is a home without them! I'll look forward to read the stories about them all... and see pictures.

I see you live in NE Missisippi, so some of your cats' could be related to the cats' who live with another member of PT (Willow Oak). He has rescued quite a few cats (and dogs) over the last few years. You can read about his rescue stories here, or on his own site, which there is a link to:

Just time to say hello, good evening or something like that. RL is a mite demanding right now.

The cats are all dozing, as is the Small One. Wish I could, but the honey-do list comes first.

Hope the rest of the week goes well for one and all.

And thanks, everyone, for the welcomes to the site.

Welcome, Roy, Lisa and furry babies!! I LOVE your writing style very much and am enjoying each post. I agree with your logic of not wanting any kitties to outlive you - that is also our logic. I have been posting here for many years, not a speed typist, or very good with words so rarely post, but I DO read :)

Isn't is funny how there is often one of our kitties who is closest to our heart? Mine is Dylan in my siggy. I will be reading and getting to know more about your family. Blessings!!

Thanks for the greetings. I'm running late. Came in to check the weather, found the browser STILL on (the PC stays on 24/7) and PT percolating along. Left in such a hurry I didn't do what I was supposed to do.

Time to slow down and scritch the kitties I'm thinking.

Just a few more things to go and places to do, then I can settle down. I'm looking forward to browsing the place in more detail. Right now, though, I'll say what I usually say when I've not planned what to say .....

Thanks for the welcome lvpets.

Looks like I'm going to be here for a while. This old Duffer done forgot whut he wuz headed out to do. I opened the back door and almost passed out from the slap of the heat and humidity. Surprised me actually, since the temps are only expected to be in the MID 90sF. Humidity is less than 50% as well.

It took a while but I figured it out. Checked the thermometer in here and it's in the low 70s. Gotta reset the ACs.

Anyway, here I am, stranded in front of this stupid monitor talking to a complete new world of people. Oh, don't get me wrong. I'm liking what I read and see very much. I'm used to a set of forums homed on a place called Worldcrossing. We have our own pair of forums, and are members of a dozen or so others. Choices there are over 4,000 strong, although a good many are locked up tight and are marked Private. That bit is just to keep the A$%holes and Gremlins out where we can do the personal pictures and stories.

Anyway, since I'm here, here's a shot of Miki playing on the overhead kitty rail, just above the computer console which is in the center of the room.

A NOTE here:

Hope no one objects to the continual 'bumping' (as you folks say here) of this thread. I, myself, hate to have to remember all the dozens of threads a person could open should s/he be long winded and partial to rattling off in twenty dozen directions. I've tried it on a few pet forums/msg boards on the international circuit and I get just flat danged LOST.

So, unless I get my hand slapped, I be here for the personal blather. ;)

Barbara

Sonia59
07-09-2010, 04:14 PM
Hi Miki! What a lovebug you seem to be :):love:

I, too, prefer having less new threads. Compared to other (very few) French forums I follow, the number of new threads is amazing but they are also quickly given up for a new one of the same member, most of the time.

KnightOwl
07-09-2010, 09:05 PM
Thanks Barbara and Sonia. I like the one thread myself. Too old for that ratting around all over the place.

So, I have the time, the pictures, the stories, and seems now, I have the audience. We move on.

Next little guy is the second in line to the title of King Kitty, head of the Clowder, #1 fuzzbutt here at Five Oaks. He was found at the same Flea Market, in the same homemade wooden cage/crate that Buddy Bear was. He was with one other little guy, a little tabby. Miss Lisa went strait for the little yellow fellow, so I, being skeptical of adding yet another mouth to feed, said nothing. Of course the lady didn't have to say much to get the nod of agreement to her question "Can we take her home?"

Her turned into him when the vet did the once-over the next Monday. Whatever Tegar was welcomed into the House of York with no complaints, except for maybe a couple three tentative hisses and half-hearted swats, which turned into major all-over baths and cuddles. For a while there Lisa had to fight to get her new baby in her arms for cuddling.

Miki had taken over the job of raising the little one.

<center><img src=http://www.thewizardsgtpop.com/TegarKitchenWindow0906TC272x486.jpg>
He's 6 years old. His name is Tegar, pronounced 'T Gar'
(no specific reason for the odd name
other than the fact that we liked the sound of it)
He is a fluff-ball snuggle-puss ladies' kitty
and can put his Small One on cloud 9 in the blink of an eye.
He's a bit skeptical of curling to me,
but my lap is fair game any time
I hit a chair or the futon.
He's the cat I never wanted but now
can't live without.
I never liked yellow cats.</center>

Just a note here: I've lost track of a bunch of my pictures. They are somewhere on the WWW on one of the hidden storage pages of Buddy Bear's Cats' World Web Site (http://www.thewizardsgtpop.com) or perhaps on one of the photobucket.com photo albums. Never fear, I'll find them, and too, when I have the current folders of recent pix tweaked and uploaded we'll have a whole mess of yellow kitty pix to peruse. Well, actually, a whole mess of pix of all 6 of the Mouskateers of Five Oaks Manor!

Till later .....

<font color=blue><b>"A cat is a very special friend who comes into your life. When it comes it brings warmth, companionship, contentment and love. Whether it's long-haired, short-haired, pedigreed or "heinz" makes no difference." </b> <center>~Sharon Lundblad~</center></font>

Next in line in the purring order is 'the Baby', or Rowdy as he was christened on the way home from the Flea Market where we found him. (story is <a href=http://catsworld.homestead.com/rowdy.html>Here</a>)

This microwave has served the Mouskateers
as an observation post for all the years they have lived
It's just a bread box now, but it will remain for them
They can guard the premises looking out the window
to the right, and the Cat Porch door to the left.
Makes for a good sun bathing spot on a summer afternoon
Rowdy sees his sisfurr chasing a big bunrabbit.
She did NOT catch the rabbit.
I don't think she wanted to tangle with that one.

This little lady is Spooky (I didn't name her.)
Her previous owners hung that name on her.
She's, to our best guess estimation, 7 years old
6 of those years she's been with us after crossing the road
from her old home.
She has never gone back.
She's one of the two outside kitties we have.

We call her Princess because she looks and acts so much like our little Rainbow Bridge Girl Princess Ebony (http://catsworld.homestead.com/princesstribute.html) who took care of us for over 21 years.

Speaking of ceiling cat ......

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v305/thewizardsgtpop/RowdyCeilingCatIsWatchingCT640x480.jpg
One day, while the front door was open
so we could watch the birds on the feeders
the baby, Rowdy, decided he was
going to go 'up there' and check out the view.
Needless to say the Small One had fits
to get her baby Heathen down
before he hurt himself.
I told him "Get down Rowdy!"
He did!

They're all wonderful, but if I had to choose a favourite, it would be Tegar. Of course, I'm biased. ;) Spooky looks like a sweet girl, too.

I bet Rowdy was interested in catching that cat going around on the ceiling fan. :D Glad he didn't try, he could easily have hurt himself.

This little lady, Smokey by name, was the first
of the two outsiders to move over from across the road
bag and baggage.
She had her first meal, went back home
and came back the next day with Spooky
close behind.
We unpacked their baggage and they moved in
The car port became THEIR Cat Porch
and the laundry room with cat door installed
became their boudoir.
She is my little shadow, my helper

As can been seen, I have been missing from the files of this fine establishment for a bit of a while. Many things have happened, most prominent on the list would be that I lost the links here, and, with the excess of places I used to think I just had to be on, I forgot where I went. That added to the shuffling of computer towers.
We are now working on a gift from a dear internet friend from Texas who saw to it I did NOT become MIA (missing in action) because of a kaput 'puter. (I'm still in shock over that one, but then, there ARE good people everywhere, even on the interwebs!

First thing I want to do, if I am still allowed here, and this still works, is to post a small greeting to one and all .....
The original picture was picked up from an email we received from one of our Blogspot.com friends, given a bit of a tweak, and we wrote a bit of greeting. Made me think of our little House Panther, MikiCato and his love for climbing high places.

It's at Roy Sr's Place (http://roysrsplace.weebly.com/a-special-greeting.html)

Seems a good many of my pictures in the previous posts are missing as well. Reason for that being we had to close our account with our web site provider (fixed income causes things like that) which hosted all our images. Now we are slowly working up to adding our most used and new pix to Photobucket. Sorry, but I am back, and we'll try to recover those missing pix or at least replace them if need be.
Yeah, and the signature became a casualty of the same said web site deletion. We are working with a freebie site, which the link above will give you the home link to, if anyone should care to join us.
I shall be back sometime (hopefully) during or perchance just after the holidays.
Be happy, stay warm and safe, and don't forget to take care of the outside pets and other critters. They need all the protection and help they can get.
I'm gone ..... for now.

Hey Karen and Catty. Thanks for the welcome back, and hope I didn't flustergate everyone with the continual changes on the last post, and again, on the start post on this thread. I'll have to do some refresher studying on the hows and wherefores of the place.

Hope the season is a good one for everyone. As for me, this time of year has always thrown curves our way, but Lisa (my wife) and I have made it 49 years together. We are scheduled for another 25 years. That gives us plenty of time to make up for the bumps and bruises.

Thanks for that info. I'm thinking it's just for use here, but I'll ask anyway. Does it host the pix for use on other forums and blogs, or just for internal use?

Just stopping by tonight, or rather, this morning. Finishing up with duties around the homestead, I find I'm finally falling asleep. Just had to make my mark today.

If, I don't get back before Christmas Day, here's another Merry Christmas greeting for everyone. Be happy, stay safe, stay warm, and be careful if you have to drive. It was a mad house out there yesterday afternoon.
