This is an actual film made of the surrender ceremony of the Japanese to General McArthur in Tokyo Bay on September 2,1945. Actual voice of the General.

Never been shown to the general public before.

We always saw the "stills" but never the film itself.

Interesting the other signers to the document, from New Zealand/Australia/ Europe/Russia/China.

Years ago when we went to see a movie at the local theaters they would have old war news clips & that one looks familar. Thanks for sharing. :)

Have you ever seen "The Last Mission"? This occurred after the bombs were dropped, but before the formal surrender. It was recreated a few years ago for the History Channel. There were some very strong hawks in the Japanese military which were so against surrender that there was a plot to kill Emperor Hirohito!
