I was curious about something. I have noticed, just about all shih tzus have crooked teeth and an underbite. (my dog being one of them) does anyone know why they do or what causes it?

We have a tibetan spaniel that fits into the groups of breeds which have an underbite...just like your shih tzu.
There's good information on this mouth/tooth type at www.dentalvet.com/patients/orthodontics/pet_orthodontics.htm (http://www.dentalvet.com/patients/orthodontics/pet_orthodontics.htm)
Scroll down to the section that starts 'An underbite...'
You will see that this article refers to shih tzus among the examples of breeds which have an underbite.

thanks Angel. Did you see the braces for doggies. I think that's crazy! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/eek.gif

I never knew that dogs were sometimes fitted with braces until I read that article. And did you see where it said that the doggie braces get their teeth moved within months...not like the years it takes for humans? So lucky dogs only wear their braces for a short time.
