Reminds me of some of my calls (mandated by management) to our help desk.

If one of our machines is down more than 1 hours, we HAVE to call the help desk, even if we already know what's wrong with it, adding 1/2 hour or more to the downtime.

I made a call (mandatory) for a BSOD on a machine's control computer.

The tech's answer.......it can't do that, it's a Linux OS. (No, it's winbloze, they "upgraded" it from QNX)

Hang up, call help desk back.......

Can I get a tech who knows WTH he's talking about?

And they connect me with the tech I just hung up on.

They wonder why we call them the helpless desk. :D

Gee...I don't drink and you do. So I would click no, but you go ahead and click yes!

"Helpless desk" - I like that!:D

Gee whiz, if I got a box like that I would have to call tech support and ask what to do! Yes? No? I just don't know! TO MUCH PRESSURE! :p

I didn't think of that at the time. I was too busy pacing back and forth in front of my computer awaiting a reply from Catty1 :p

Reminds me of a recent Verizon issue. My BB keeps deleting old calendar events. Somewhat of a problem for me. I call Verizon and get various answers. I get pushed up to the specialist re BB. We re-set the defaults, talk about re-installing the software, new BB, etc. I spend about two hours on the phone with them. Problem not resolved.

I walk into the Verizon store and mention it to a salesperson. "Oh, yeah, the memory is full, and it is deleting what it considers non-essential data". What? And no one on the specialist level knew this? LOL.

I think most help desks ARE helpless desks.
