Probably Not, since I post selectively. Anyway, May 9th, 17 of my closest friends at the Independent Living Facility where I live in Portland drove up to Seattle in our bus and transferred to the MS Oosterdam for a seven day cruise of Glacier Bay in Alaska. My first cruise and a great experience. My stateroom had a veranda. The temperature was in the 40's so I'd take a couple of pictures, duck inside for a bit and out again for more pics. Yes, I know, TameraLyn would disagree with me, but it was chilly.
Arrived back in Portland yesterday. Neat trip.

Back in 1995, I worked as the piano bar pianist on the MS Maasdam for the Alaska cruise. The ports were just stunning, as was all the scenery!

I think it was in Sitka that I had a favourite coffee shop just up the street.

It is a fabulous cruise - glad you got to do it and enjoyed it!:)

Something I always wanted to know about boat trips....... Do you feel
the water beneath you when you are on the ship? Any sense of motion
at all, or is just like being on land?

Aaaw- that's something that still is on the list of my dreams:)
I am so glad you could have that experience:)

Yes, there is a little sense of motion and the hum of the engines. Usually easy to live with. On most mornings we would wake up to the quiet and realize we were docked for the day.
On that Thursday, I woke up at 3am with the rough seas as were steaming toward Sitka. Finally calmed down but that was the worst.
All made for a fun trip.

Thanks. I was wondering about motion sickness when you don't have
a firm place to plant your feet.:) (that would probably be me)

I would love to go on a cruise ship. Unfortunately I bought into the whole food poisoning, leagonnaire disease, creepy stalkers and murderers rumour. I have also heard that peepers and grifters are abundant, therefore we are a bit hesitant. I know... what a killjoy ☠️
You cannot really just leap off and swim to shore if you are unhappy I imagine. I did however enjoy watching the Love Boat.
