LH- what is the unofficial take on this? Is it a PIA? Is it well recieved? Give us the behind the scenes look....

My mom got a flyer about this with her mail. This year the Boy Scouts will be helping with the food collection in their town on that day. There is usually a notice posted in my building. It's not a PIA for my building because the mail carrier drives right up to the door, and we usually have it packed and ready to go. But for someone delivering by walking I could see where they'd need help.

The official take on it? Some of the carriers hate it, some of them love it. It really depends on how supportive local management is of the drive more than anything else.

I know that my Dad helps with the food collection and the postmistress in the town has shuttles set up so the carriers can unload their vehicles several times during their route. There are places where that isn't done, and it really becomes a bear for the carriers.

I have my bag all ready. I try to do this each time, even if I only have a few things it's better than nothing I think.
