Hes on Aqui Drops now and Clindamayacin injection.
Does anyone know of a nedicine, thats liquid that will help Josephs gum heal.
Hes older so his gums will be slow.
I got a mouth wash to keep his gums clean.
I dont mind spending money , and I will if it will help My Juke Joint Joseph!!:love::love:

Wouldn't just a warm salt water mix be easier on his gums to clean them than a strong mouthwash? I doubt he will like the mouthwash and how it makes his mouth feel. Sending healing vibes to JJJ3!

Gary i would be careful about administering herbal medicines to my cat, they are not 100 per cent proved to be safe, you would need advice from a herbalist who specialises in animal care.

There is stuff out there on the internet, i have been looking for my Ellie for her gingivitis, and it probably would suffice for Joseph as he will have sore gums, but again i would be hesitant to recommend it, for the above reasons and because i have never tried it myself on my cat yet.

Wishing Joseph all the best, i think perhaps Laura's babies suggestion of salted water would be my preferred choice, cannot hurt or go wrong with that, nothing like old fashioned remedys, they often work best, good luck, let us know how you get on, wishing Joseph a speedy recovery and relief from pain.

Get a saline rinse from the store...you can get it in the little Dristan type of bottles that give a good squirt. A doctor once told me that it's the best antiseptic going! :)

I think it's early days, so treatment needs to be gentle. What are the Aqui drops? They might be saline too.

I hope the injection helps dear Joseph and he feels better soon.

Gary, I have to agree with Cathy. Normal saline is not harmful at all. JJJ3 is a little older, and things take a bit longer to heal....

I agree with the salty water suggestions. I think also for like when you have wisdom teeth removed you can put a tea bag over the area to help it heal. Pretty sure dear Joseph isn't into tea though!

When my son was a baby and teething, I soothed his sore gums with a little Ora Gel. You can buy it over the counter and it numbs the sore spots on the gums. Perhaps you can put it on after the salt water rinse?

I wouldn't do this without asking the vet to make sure that it's not harmful to kitties just to be safe.

Of course he should, I forgot to add that. I remember when I had concerns for giving my son the stuff, my pediatrician said there was nothing in there that could hurt him, even if I put it on all the time. It is something Gary could ask his vet about. I feel so bad for poor Joseph.

:) I so agree for sure Ask the Vet First before using anything over the counter on JJJ3 mouth.. Just remember he has had Surgery & Stitches in there.. You do not want anything to cause Inflamation or Infection..

I will try a little salt on warm water, just a pinch.
The Aqui Drops are an anti infection medicine for the two spots on his gums that were bleeding.
I will search the net for Cat Herbal remedies, but I am afraid of getting the wrong advice!!:confused:
Joseph ^^and I again say Thank You for your Prayers and Kind Thoughts!!!
Joey ^^says Thank You for giving him a chance by lying beside me and purrrrrrrrrrring me to sleep.

Try crushing up a1/4 tab of Lysine 500 tablet and putting it in tuna every day. It'll build up his immune system.

I'd call your vet and see what he suggests. He seems to care a lot for JJJ3.

Has anyone tried a gravy to entice their Cats to eat?
I see a lot of these at PetsMart and I am curious about which ones are good.
I will ask about Lysine.

Can you get that as a liquid????

:) Yes I have tried the gravy with my babies just to see if they liked it.. The Chicken was the only one they liked.. I only got like once or twice.. Hey thats a good idea.. It would not hurt to try.. If I remember right it has extra vitamins in it..

You might want to ask the pharmacy is they would consider compounding the lysine for you so that it would be in liquid form. That might be a possibility.

Gary, he got through the surgery just fine and is healing up enough to eat what he loves. I'd say he's not ready to say "goodbye" just yet. I think he is saying "Thank you, Dad!":)

You might want to try Weruva Paw Lickin' Chicken. It's finely shredded chicken in lots of broth, and my guys are crazy for it.

I checked the Weruva website, and there are stores that carry that brand in Ontario: http://www.weruva.com/stores.html

Yes there one in Dundas which is fairly close and I have an appointment at Mc Master which is not that far away.
I hope its not too expensive as Josephs picky, but it cant be as expensive than A/D or Recovery :eek::eek:

The Weruva food is pretty expensive (maybe not quite as much as A/D), but I'd still recommend picking up a few cans. Gatsby's a picky eater, and he inhales the stuff. Angel is even more picky, and he loves it too.
