Lyrics:

This Woman's Work Lyrics

I should be hoping, but I can't stop thinking
Of all the things I should've said, That I never said. All the things we should've done, That we never did. All the things I should've given, But I didn't.
Oh, darling, make it go, Make it go away.
Give me these moments back. Give them back to me. Give me that little kiss. Give me your hand.
(I know you have a little life in you yet. I know you have a lot of strength left. I know you have a little life in you yet. I know you have a lot of strength left.)
I should be crying, but I just can't let it show. I should be hoping, but I can't stop thinking
Of all the things we should've said, That were never said. All the things we should've done, That we never did. All the things that you needed from me. All the things that you wanted for me. All the things that I should've given,But I didn't.
Oh, darling, make it go awayJust make it go away now.

I LOVE that song!

I remember seeing a movie in the late 80's ... something about having a baby? I think Kevin Bacon was in it. Anyway, his wife is in labor and things are going badly. They don't know if she will die, the baby will die, or both. The whole scene is in very slow motion and that song is playing. Still haunts me, over twenty years later.

I would love to have that song on CD.

One of my favorite songs and its on my ipod.

Twisterdog, I also like that movie and I believe it is where I first heard that song. The movie is called "She's Having A Baby".

I love the show "So You Think You Can Dance" and they did a fabulous routine to that song and it had people in tears.

Who recorded it, originally, for the movie?

Do you remember that single drop of bright red blood hitting the spotless white operating room floor in slllooooww motion? Wow. Intense.

I believe it was Kate Bush who recorded it for that movie and yes I do remember that scene. It was a very powerful scene that just pulled at your heartstrings. I know Maxwell also sings it but I'm pretty certain it was Kate Bush who did it for the movie and it is her version that I have on my ipod.

Here are a couple of links to the So You Think You Can Dance routine. The choreagrapher did it for his friend who was battling breast cancer. When they orginally performed it the audience and judges were in tears. That music just gets to you.
