Hey guys, sorry for soon many threads from me lately, but I need some suggestions. I now need to find a new job, thanks to some BS with Six Flags that really p!sses me off, and I don't feel like getting into too much. Basically, working hard for 2 years isn't good enough for them anymore...so now I'm on the hunt for a new job. I am pretty limited to what I can do, especially with animals. I am applying at Petsmart as a Pet care specialist soon :) I am so hoping I am old enough for that specific job, that'd be perfect for me. But the problem is I'm 17...:l I am also looking into Best Buy, but I really really want to stay away from retail and food service. I'm in no rush to get a job though, but I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions..I could apply for a different department at SF to, if I get desperate.

Any suggestions for animal jobs? Or just any jobs? Thanks, it's greatly appreciated.

Pet sitting?
Dog walking?

With Spring and Summer approaching, folks will be going on vacation and in need of someone to take care of their critters.

when I was your age I worked at a pet shop.. mainly vet services, grooming, dog food and accesories.. and occasional pups from breeders we knew.. also worked at a party salon... I also had this unpayed "job" of working jumping horses which was pretty fun..

dog walking sounds fun.. just as dog sitting...

Aw, heck - just apply everywhere and see what happens! My first ever paid job was at a wig store - me, with a head full of hair! But it counted as experience on my resume, and left with me great stories to tell!

I don't know how big a place you live in....but if the local Yellow Pages aren't too huge, browse through the categories there. If something jumps out at you, apply! You may catch a company that was JUST ABOUT to advertise a job, but hasn't yet. It's happened to me!:)

Maybe you could apply to help out in a veterinary office?

A vet's office is what I was going to suggest, too.....My nephew has been working in one since he was 17 or 18....He loves it.....The hours allow him to go to school, too.

My daughter worked at Petsmart for two years. The pay was not great and the hours were after school, 3 to 9 or 10. Difficult.
Even though it is not in the pet field being a waitress might work as they are more flexible witht the hours. And you can always do pet sitting in your spare time. Good luck.

Hey! Sorry the SixFlags job didn't work out. I kinda know how that feels now when a job doesn't go as planned :(

Anyways-I think the PetSmart job sounds really cool since you would rather work w/ animals if you can. We have a Petco here and I've thought about applying there many times...sounds kinda fun!

I know how hard it can be to actually find a job you really like out there! Anyways I hope you find one that you love! Goodluck!!
