A friend's 6 month old kitten was diagnosed this week with FIP. Clearly, she and her husband are devastated. The kitten is receiving unbelievable medical care, both traditional and holistic. She also has lot and lots of love from her family. The prognosis is grim and she's had an entire battary of tests to be sure it is FIP. Does anyone have any experience or advice I can share with her?

FIP is Feline Infectious Peritonitis is actually 7 different corona viruses. My cat MooShoo tested positive for FIP. It simply means he was EXPOSED to a cat with FIP. It does not means he is a carrier or will ever get it. It also means that my other 5 cats have also been exposed to it. It does not necessarily mean they HAVE it or will get it.

Did the kitten test positive for FIP or was he actually diagnosed with it. There's a big difference.

When Moo tested positive, I was advised to have him retested 3-6 months later. Sometimes a cat's immune system can throw the virus off. MooShoo is a 12 lb. happy, healthy Sphynx.
