So I want to start selling my art projects I've created. I am wondering, how does Etsy.com work? Success stories? How much does it cost to put a item, etc. etc.

Thanks! :)

You should talk to Sparks19 and Glacier. Both of them sell through Etsy.

Hi there

Etsy is pretty user friendly. They give pretty good step by step instructions when setting up your shop initially.

The fee for listing an item is .20 per item and then they also take a 3% commission for items sold (compared to ebays 8% or something like that LOL)

From my understanding artwork can be a bit difficult to break into and sell although I'm not sure of the reason behind that.

To be successful in a saturated field on etsy (like for me it's jewelry... EVERYONE sells jewelry on there lol) you really need to put quite a bit of effort into keeping your shop on top and promoting yourself. Like I try to list a new item everyday ... although I have been SERIOUSLY slacking on that lately becuase I've just been too busy with the holiday season coming up. Listing a new item or relisting an old one will keep your shop near the beginning of the searches (the default way to search on etsy is by most recent listings)

Let me know if you have any questions :)
