Good Luck with your procedure. Today, Clean out day, is the worst part of the Colonoscopy. Your Pet Talk name will take on new meaning before the day is over.;)

Yes, I have heard the worst part is the prep. LOL @ kokopup re: your name takes on new meaning. :D
I guess next year is the dreaded procedure for me. Good luck to you!

I've never had that test so I'll just say that my thoughts are w/you. :)

I had my first one last week. It wasn't as bad as I expected. Are you doing the 2 bottles, 2 pills?

I only "went" 7 times, and got to sleep between 10 PM and 4:30 AM. (Only had to get up then due to a dog needing to go out or I'd have slept on).

Best wishes.

It will be alright.

I'd take that prep over barium ANYDAY!

Good Luck and don't worry.

My prep is different. I have 2 packets of pico salex that I have to mix with 150 ml of water. I did the first packet/water mix at 7 am. Not much to report since then. I do the second packet/water mix at 2 pm. Then at 7 pm I have 4 pills to take. I'm thinking I go so often on a regular basis that this really isn't much different from my "norm" of late.

I am not sure why the nurse doesn't tell people what my sister was told: take it WAY easy food wise for the day or two before your prep, and it is truly no big deal. People eat before a fast like food is going out of style, then wonder why the prep is such a big deal.

Take a book to read. I was on the toilet for about an hour. Just when I thought I could get up, oops....back down again.

In all honesty, at the end of the day I felt great. There's nothing like a good clean out..........

Geeze - I lost count with the last one. All I remember is, that after the last dose in the morning before I left for the procedure, I felt lightheaded. I started out of the bathroom, and promptly passed out cold on my bedroom floor.

When I told my doctor about it, he said that something like that isn't unheard of, especially in a person that doesn't carry much weight, and that's me. It had never happened when I had them before and it scared the crap out of me. Figure of speech only, since there obviously was none left!

I'm long overdue so I've got to schedule after the holidays. I'm supposed to have one at least every 2 years since cancer runs in the family, and both my father and brother had colon cancer. I just wish there was an easier way to do this..........YUK!

QOP - good luck. Get it out of the way and that will be one less thing to worry about. ;)

Take heart Pomtzu, they're working on an easier way, some kind of pill you swallow and they don't need to get invasive and everything shows up on a scan.
I've never had it done but watched my mom , first time she did it we had to call the ambulance cause she passed out and we couldn't wake her. The second time they hospitalized her for it, the only room she really needed was the one at the foot of her bed, I don't intend on ever going that route.

But you still have to be cleaned out, and that's the worst part of it. You're in la-la land for the actual procedure. ;)

Well, I just had the second dose of pico salax. So far it really hasn't been a problem. I go, but it is similar to before I started taking fiber to bulk up. So really this cleanout hasn't been any worse than the IBS they are trying to diagnose. Unless it gets "better" after this second dose, we shall see!!

Thanks for the laugh, although that is still dangerous (can't relax that much). I can surely see that happening, especially with how tender it has gotten down there. I was sure I'd bought the softest toilet paper there is. NOT SO!!!! Kitten softness is not working today. Nice try though Purex!!

Oh, Gayle! My heart goes out to you! My dad just went through this a couple of weeks ago and it was not fun. His gastroenterologist (new to the practice) suggested afterward that he eat some yogurt to get some "good" bacteria back into his GI tract, and also to drink a lot of fluids for a couple of days afterward to reverse any dehydration from the prep and the procedure. I hope it all goes very well.

And so the day has come. I got thru the prep now to get thru the actual test. I'm up and ready to go. Diego made sure I was awake at 4 am. Be ever so glad when this is over and I can eat.:(

The kind nurse gave me enough sleepy drugs that I was completely unaware of the event!! It's over and there are no bad memories of it. They took some biopsies. I see the specialist in 2 months from today for the results.

Yay, glad it is done with. Hopefully you'll get an "all is well," and not have to go through one of those again soon!
