I've seen that video before and it IS heart-warming but it also makes me sad. I know Baxter provided a huge service to those at the nursing home, but I wonder how his own life could have been after he lost the ability to walk. It saddens me. Those folks needed Baxter, but it does not seem possible that a dog who's arthritis cripled it so badly that it could no longer walk would have had a quality of life. This video brings a great amount of mixed emotions for me. I'm happy Baxter is at peace now, I tend to think he should have gone to the bridge sooner then he did, but he's not my dog. Those folks at the nursing home DID benefit from his existance, but at what cost?

I also posted this video on my Facebook.

I feel Baxter had a greater purpose on this earth. a divine purpose. and just because he couldn't run free... he was able to feel and receive love. It's purely speculation and maybe it's just the optimist in me... but dogs are perceptive :) I think he got it.
