View Full Version : How do I delete Windows Live Messenger?

Every time I connect to the Internet with Firefox, I get this pop up thing for Windows Live Messenger. This started in July when I had to use my restore disks.

I do not use it, do not want it, and would like to know how to remove it. I've tried my Add/ Remove programs, can't find it there. I tried the on line help, couldn't find delete, even when I searched it.

Anyone willing to provide step by step instructions? Use a PM if need be.

Thanks

Try this.

Link. (http://www.iaskd.com/how-to-uninstall-windows-live-messenger.html)

Instructions
Press the Windows button on your keyboard, or launch the Start Menu using your cursor.
Select the "Run..." option.
In the prompted box, enter "RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove".
Press the Enter button on your keyboard, or click "OK."
When you are prompted and asked to restart your computer, click "Yes."

I could deinstall it in the start menu, under system control (not sure it's called that in English :() and then software.

DARN!

Blue, I was SO excited to see that. I went through the steps.

Odd, it never asked me to restart. Oh well, I shut down and an hour later came back and restarted.

Messenger is STILL THERE!

I ran it again, now a little blurb of a white box pops up and disappears before you can blink twice. It does nothing. :(

Using that link, I tried to disable it instead. Followed the steps and . . . it does not APPEAR in the list!

Sometimes I hate Microsoft. Other times, I REALLY hate them!
