Go spend about $10 and get a USB keyboard.

I am not a Windows person. But is your broken keyboard a USB keyboard? Perhaps there is some extra step needed for your computer to recognize the existence of a ps/2 keyboard.

By the way, you can copy and paste a "space" from this post to use in your next post!

Yes, it is, the adapters will run you almost the same price as the kbd, though.

Just for an example:

http://www.emtcompany.com/catagories/usbps2-usb-to-ps2-adapter.htm?gclid=CJ6Bt4iPu50CFVlM5QodMDk1jA

Cheaper than i remember them being, but then again I work with government pricing.....LOL

Sounds like your ps2 port went bad.

Sounds like your ps2 port went bad.

What I was about to say.

Although, this could be a premonition to a bigger problem with the motherboard of the computer. I would keep an eye out for any other things like this occurring.

hooray for new keyboards! Though this one is kind of wavy so it will take some getting used to!

I wouldn't worry overly much about the rest of the motherboard. The way PS2 ports are attached and used makes them prone to failure, which is why we don't stock PS-2 keyboards as spares for the machines.

Now that I think of it there must have been a reason for switching my fancy ps/2 keyboard out for a cheapo usb one. I think I initially had this problem a while back:confused:
I picked up a new usb multimedia keyboard pretty much like my old one for $20 at wally world.

Like LH said I wouldnt worry about the MB failing. Ive had PS/2 ports fail before without affecting the rest of the system.

:DIf you toss the old one up in the air they make a satisying thunk when they hit the ground...not to mention the keys flying off!
