Day 3 of staying off extra salt - meaning no salty snacks (for me that means NO snacks! LOL), and tasting my food before I add any salt to it.

The Cochrane map has all the red shale walkways marked on it, including the distances. There is part of one right across the street from me, and it works out roughly to just under two miles.

I just did my first loop - took half an hour! So there is my 1/2 hr three times a week! :)

Am also moving back to vegetarian status, but not radically. Adding more soy to my diet sure helps the hot flashes!

Am glad to be off on a new start and actually DOING something!:)

Pat on the back to you, Candace!

Er, what is the Cochrane Map? And the red shales? I didn't understand that bit at all, lol.

Two miles in half an hour? Well, obviously you were NOT walking with a dog, he hee. They have to stop and sniff at everything vertical (sign posts, utility poles, hydrants, trees, fence posts.) Takes us a bit over an hour to do the 2 mile loop, lol. So see there? You are already ahead, and lucky too!

Go Candace! Go Candace! Feels good to MOVE doesn't it? Salt is my short coming too. I don't salt things but I'll take a saltine over chocolate any day! However, a friend gave me a chocolate that had sea salt on it! I died and went to heaven on that little treat!

I walk fast! This exercise walk is not a stroll! lol

Red shale is a crushed rock used for everything from pathways to driveways to baseball infields: http://images.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=http://www.coloredshale.com/images/pathways2.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.coloredshale.com/pathways.php&usg=__dj9Bs9bATJweaIeLC2DCJmEDwks=&h=208&w=307&sz=15&hl=en&start=11&um=1&tbnid=xgxo0D7CrSw8MM:&tbnh=79&tbnw=117&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dred%2Bshale%2Bpathway%26hl%3Den%26cr% 3DcountryCA%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26channel%3Ds%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-GB:official%26sa%3DG%26um%3D1

The Cochrane Map is a, well, a map of the town of Cochrane, where I live. :)

I am sure you have heard that old saying "Every journey starts with the first step"... you have taken that first step.. Congratulations! I love walking, just don't have anywhere to walk where I live.
