My co-worker is going on vacation from 10/11 through 10/19. She has a female Golden Retriever that is a real sweetie. She was telling me today that the dog will have to be boarded while they are away. I blurted out, "I'll take care of her!" She said she would love to have me watch her dog instead of taking her to a kennel but her husband can be "funny" about things. Not sure what that meant but she is going to talk to him about it over the weekend.

It would be really nice for me to have a dog in the house for a week. I really miss Casey and am not really sure I want to get another dog right away. Then I started thinking, what if something would happen to her dog while I was dog sitting. I am a worrier some times.

Any thoughts on dog sitting for a friend?

I always leave Valentine with friends rather than kennel him, and we know he is having fun and being well cared for. I suggest all of the things I know you would probably do anyway, get emergency contact information, any meds or allergies etc ahead of time. Invite the whole family in question over ahead of time to get familiar with your environment and check things out.

Aww, thats great! Hopefully you are able to. I know how much you must miss having a cold nose around.

I'd say just spoil it like it was your own. ;)

I agree. Just treat the dog as if it were yours. So much better than having to be boarded. The dog will be much happier.
