I woke up too early this morning with a tummyache (ate too much at a party last night) and a leg cramp. I got up and walked around a little, then tried lying on my side. Smudge hopped up, purring, and parked his warm fluffy bum against my belly, and the tummyache settled. Then he got up, walked down to my feet, and sat on the foot that was trying to twist in the wrong direction, and between the warmth and the immobilization, the cramp subsided.

Cats are amazing! Especially Smudge.

Love, Columbine

Way to go, Smudge! It is amazing how our kitties just seem to know when something isn't right. A few years ago I broke my wrist and wound up in a cast. Groucho would frequently rub against it, gently touch my fingers with his paw, and became the ultimate velcro kitty.

Glad to know you're feeling better now. Could I ask you to give Smudge some scritchies and lovies from me?

I think that it must be instinctive in animals as I kknow when My Found Cats have been ill, the Other Cats gather around them to impart thier warmth and let them know that they are loved.
And when I had the amputation of the little toe on my left foot, they would sit by the foot, to show how much they cared.
And now that My Princess and Juke Joint Joseph are ailing I will try to help them as I did for My Angel Cats when they were ill too.
Its the animal thing to do:love:

Kisses to Smudge from me, too! When I am having a bout with the blues, Cassie seems to get more snuggly and affectionate. Like, Meowm, this too will pass.

They also know when we are feeling down. When tears start to form, I have two kitties right by me or on me doing their best to cheer me up. It works like magic!

Oh, how sweet.. but not at all surprising.. cats are so good at reading our minds and diagnosing our needs.

Well done, Smudge! Such a good job you are doing taking care of your Meowmie when she needs it so much!
