Let me tell you a little story about Pretty Girl.

Her owner, an elderly lady, was taken by ambulance and Pretty girl and another cat was left in the house for about 2-3 weeks without any food. I don't know if the woman died or was put in a home, but her nephew came to her place and started to put her furniture out on the sidewalk for garbage. One neighbour asked him what he planned on doing with the cats and he said he was going to throw them out with the garbage. So the neighbour asked if he could get the cats and the nephew said sure. Now why the neighbour did this is beyond me, but he couldn't get a hold of the male and was able to get Pretty Girl, put her in like a duffle bag and put her at the end of the laneway in hopes that someone would take her. My friend down the street heard about this and went and got the cat and brought her to me. (I found out a few days later that a neighbour took in the male.)
When I picked her up, I couldn't believe how emaciated she was. I started to feed her 1/4 of a tin of kitten food every 2 hours for the first 2 days then every 3 hours after that. July 6th, brought her to my vets for a check up and was shocked to find out she was about a month pregnant. She was about 6-7 years old, weighed 5 lbs. and because of her condition it wasn't safe to put her under to abort the babies and spay her. She had also had her jaw broken at one point and was not treated for it, so her mouth wasn't aligned and her bottom fang stuck out.
She was doing okay up til about the end of July when she started to sneeze and sneeze and sneeze along with some coughing. The vet figured she had caught a cold. Then I noticed that she wasn't eating all that much so on Aug. 4th brought her back to the vets and we had a blood test done for Feline Aids/Leukemia. Got the devastating news that she had Feline Leukemia and from her symptoms, was nearing the late stages of it. So on Aug. 6th we had her PTS. Her babies were due the following week.:(
The saddest part is that we were going to keep her. I guess it wasn't meant to be. At least she had 5 good weeks of love and care. I also want to add that she did not come into contact with any of my crew at all and they were not allowed in my room til 2 days later after I totally disinfected it.

Here are a few pictures of Pretty Girl.

What a sad, sad story! I bet she knew that she was loved those last few weeks. Thank you for taking care of her the way you did, and letting her go when you knew it was time. She's playing at the Rainbow Bridge with Willie, and my Angel, and the tons of others there, waiting until it's time to be reunited with their humans once again..........................

Nobody came fed the lady's cats..... that is a sad state of affairs when someone can do that.. The whole story is heartbreaking, just heartbreaking! At least she has a peaceful end and knew she was cared for at the end. Bless you for doing that for that beautiful girl.. RIP Pretty Girl.

Oh Lorraine! What a very sad story. it is disheartening to know there are such nasty people in the world.

But then there are people like you who make the world better.

Godspeed Pretty Girl.

What Laura said. Any chance of a case against the nephew? What a dolt!

RIP Pretty Girl.

I'm so sorry about this poor girl; you did a wonderful thing in her last weeks, though, and that's what's important. She went to the Bridge loved. Peace to you and your heart - it's been a tough time for you.:(

Lorraine, gentle and many {{{hugs}}}.

Pretty Girl lived the best life she could with you. A pox on that idiot man that was going to throw her out with the trash.

You loved her for the precious creature she is - she is happy at the Bridge because she already found her heaven with you.

I was just devastated to read this thread!!! Pretty Girl was an ABSOLUTE beauty!!! As several of the other posts say, she spent her last days in a good place and very loved....Sleep softly, Pretty Girl....

Has the male been tested for feline leukemia???? Maybe you should let the neighbour know..

Thank you everyone for your sympathy and very kind words. I really appreciate it.

Donna, I don't understand your comment; "Is this THE Pretty Girl????"
If you mean the pictures I posted, yes, that is Pretty Girl. That's what I named her.

Kb2yjx; I don't know about the male. I'm assuming that he also had the same disease. All I know is that they couldn't get near the male and he landed up being in the house longer, but a neighbour did put food out for him. Then the landlord came and was able to get him out of the house and one of the neighbours took him in. He was in worse shape than what Pretty girl was in, so I wouldn't be surprised if he is gone also. Such a sad case.:(

Well Pretty Girl is in Paradise now, and will have her Kittens and they will beLittle Eternal Angels as they never had thier normal life here.
I cant believe that that ladys family knew there were Ctas and did nothing to help them.
If there was a Big Screen TV they would have had that out at once.
I am praying for Pretty Girls Brother, and that if hes also ill, that they are reunited with that Dear Lady in Paradise.

Thank you for your sympathy.

Having had Willy PTS not that long ago and now Pretty Girl, took a bit of a toll on me.

Of course it did. The cruelty of the people that Pretty Girl had the misfortune to come into contact with was negated, though, by your kindness and human touch. You will be blessed for it. RIP, Pretty Girl. No one will ever be able to harm or neglect you again.

LES going on over here, Lorraine. Not only did you give Pretty Girl the perfect name, you gave her the love and care that she was so sadly deprived of before you found her. Pretty Girl and her sweet babies are at the Rainbow Bridge with Willy talking about how fortunate they were to be loved by you.

[[[[[HUGS]]]]] being sent to you during such a painful time
