3 cucumbers, 1 zucchini, green basil, bronze basil, parsley, green salad bowl lettuce, red salad bowl lettuce, tomatoes and cherry tomatoes!

We had fresh salad for supper, with a chicken breast sliced up in it. Also added slivered almonds, dried cranberries, cheese, and honey mustard dressing. Oooh the smell of fresh picked, yum!

The best part about tomatoes off the vine?

They have so much acid in them they burn your salivary glands when you first bite into them.:D

Maybe in California ... what with all that vaunted sunshine and all, but here they are the best, yummiest tomatoes ever!

Thanks everyone. Yes all the work to get the garden going has paid off. We are picking things daily, and have to share with the neighbors a bit as we can't eat it all.

Timely, ain't it?;) You are supposed to SNEAK them to your friends!:D

I just plucked a huge one from my plant. I am totally amazed at how huge those suckers get......

What do you do for the soil? Vitamins/fertilizer?

You can kill me after you tell me.:D

Dehydrated cow manure, Richard. Bovung brand name, if you have it out there, is the BEST!

First you dig a hole twice as big as you nee dit for that tiny little starter plant. Fill it with Bovung, then put in the plant, then some soil on top.

Once the plant gets it's first flower, put a pile of Bovung next to it.

We've had so much rain this year I haven't needed to water once! Not even the day I planted -- it started raining before I was finished!

I have been eating the best figs from a neighbor's tree. One of the branches sticks over just enough for me to be able to pick them off with no hassle at all!:D

These things are huge and so sweet. I hadn't had figs in years....;)

I'll grab some pics in the next few days!:D

That is beautiful! You are lucky you have such a talented green thumb. Almost everything I plant dies. I even kill the ones already planted. I'll bet your chicken salad was delicious.

My granny had a fig tree in her front yard and I'd eat until I pooped preserves!:eek::D

She put up figs and there was nothing more awesome that a piece of wheat toast with real butter and her fig preserves.

Just a few?

LOL,

I just need a 'granny apron' and a longer arm?

DONE!:D

I cannot wait to have my own garden! I will have to learn everything from scratch! I usually don't do well with plants, but I've also never put much thought into the ones I've had. So I think it's more about educating myself than just being a green thumb. I think I can become a green thumb! :) My mother-in-law has a fig tree in her yard, and pears, too. She has lots of stuff to eat on her property, but those are my favorite. :)

When it comes time to create a garden, I know I'll be asking tons of questions here!
