I am getting 2 purebred Persians for fostering tonight. They were brought in by their owner to a local shelter where we pull cats from. I understand they are in need of grooming.

They are both declawed males, 3 and 5 years old.

These are the only photos I have rght now.

Meet Snow and Cappuchino.

Oh, those handsome boys! They're so lucky to be joining your foster crew.

I won't say what I think of the person who surrendered them (especially if that's who is responsible for the declawing). Not fit language for a family site.

They would so much more handsome when they have gotten a good grooming and face cleaning. It's good they are coming to be fostered with you, poor boys!

Awww, they look a bit sad, and REALLY in need of grooming! Thank you for taking them in; I'm sure they'll be in a better mood shortly! Good luck and keep us posted! :)

Thats a shame when people get Kittens who are high maintenance and then decide that they are too much work.
These Big Handsome Persians will thrive in your care Jen, and will find a Furrever Home soon, we pray.
They sure are Handsome Lads!!!

Only Cappuchino came. They could not catch Snow, he ws being quite aggresive.

Cappy is SO little. :(. 5 pounds of skin (fur) over bones. I will need to shave underneath, the mats are very tight. The top might be mostly brushable.

He is a love bug.

If I lived near Pennsylvania and was allowed more cats where I live, that lovely boy would have a home with me. As he is declawed, I would be a tad worried about him socializing with my two boys, though. He is a truly a beauty!

Oh, I am quite jealous! If we weren't at our limit I would be at your doorstep to snatch those boys right up. For quite some time I have been telling my sister than I plan to replace her with a Persian once she moves out. :)

Good vibes headed that way for both kitties.

2 good pieces of news.

We are going to try again on Friday to get Snow here.

And

Cappuchino may already be adopted!!! We are going to hold on to him for 1 to 2 weeks, just to make sure he's eating and gaining weight, but these are preapproved, previous adopters with Persian experience. I am sure they will love him as soon as they meet him.

Oh, Jen, I hope Snow can successfully be brought to you and eventually to a forever home. How wonderful that Cappy may have a place to go and especially with someone experience with a Persian to boot. Kiss him for me!

Any chance Cappy and Snow could be adopted together? Snow might be especially scared without his buddy!

Great news all around! More scritchies for Cappy!

5 pounds for a mature Cat like Cappucino.
Its obvious from that and the lack of grooming that there was serious neglect in his and Snows Lives.
Why anyone would pay for Pedigree Ctas and then neglect them is horrible.
I pray these Creeps get thier just reward some how, some day.:mad:
Thank God they are with Our Hero Jen:love::love:, the best place in the World for Two Handsome Fellows!!!:love::love:

What a difference a good grooming makes. Ragnar Gustafson the Maine Coon who was a Porch Cat , they loved himas a Kitten, but that faded as he got bigger and neede regulat hair cuts.
He is such a Dear Cat, I am glad I stored him here until his friend got her own place and could take him.
Some Cats are high maintenance and its a shame that people wont main tain them.:(

Surely glad to hear that Snow was captured and brought to you. I, too, wish the two could go to their new home(s) together. However, some cats, including my own, would love to ditch the others so they could be the "one and only" cat in the house. Mine would NEVER miss each other!

Good luck placing these guys in good homes! They deserve the treat of having a good, steady home!

Thanks for taking such good care of them in the meantime!

Welcome, Snow! Jen, why do they have circles under their eyes?

jenluckenbach
08-02-2009, 06:32 PM
Jen, why do they have circles under their eyes?

The dark color? Like most push face cats, their eyes weep. Left wet the tears form a crust AND the fur stains brown. The tears and crust can (and SHOULD) be wiped as often as possible, but the stains are really hard to get rid of. The lighter the color fur the more noticable the stain.

He attacked one of the resident birds. A parrot of some kind.

Heavy sigh. Oh well, He'll find another home.

08-12-2009, 08:08 PM
Oh no...do the people who have Cappy/Gus know anyone without birds that might take him? :(

Yes, I know there is no reasoning with some people - but was this bird out in the open, on a perch? I mean...if you have birds and have not had cats, some changes are in order, right?

Snow is a stunner and I am sure he will find a great home!

{{{hugs}}} to you and Snowbaby.

jenluckenbach
08-12-2009, 08:16 PM
I have no ill feelings about these people. They had cat and bird together before. They choose Persians as a breed that is generally more laid back with less prey drive. But Snow is just a Cat's cat. ;)

He will be snatched up again in an instant, I am sure. The people love him to death, but the birds have seniority and I doubt you can teach a cat NOT to hunt.
