View Full Version : Text to Speech for Windows...Narrator sucks!

At least in this case.

Narrator is great, but the lady I am working with needs a program that will read whatever text she highlights. Her vision is fine, but she is quite illiterate.

I checked out a few freeware programs (she is on limited income, but a few bucks would be ok I think) - most of them want the text to be copied and pasted into the 'speech' window. That is a bit cumbersome for her.

She has an Intel Mac, and Mac has a great TTS program.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Not sure how much it would help, but try reading this: http://74.125.47.132/search?q=cache:vcIpgUGNvqMJ:www.soesd.k12.or.us/files/text-to-speech_in_macosx.pdf+Mac+Highlighted+Text+to+speec h&cd=3&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us&client=firefox-a

Thanks, Reggie.

The Mac side of her computer has that, and it works great.

The Windows partition has nothing that is suitable. She needs to have it speak only when the desired text is highlighted.

The Mac program can't be installed on Windows, unfortunately.
