Hubby was watching HGTV last week. they suggested that you put fan blades in the dishwasher to get them clean.

They came out sparkly clean.... and rather floppy.

Now, isn't that the saddest ceiling fan you've ever seen?:p

What the morons do not tell you is that they are made of particle board and will soak up all the water and swell.

Take them off, place them under a weight for about 1-2 weeks and pray.

Then make your hubby get off the couch or make him watch Mixed Martial Arts instead of HGTV?;):D

LMAO! :D

I've had a few of those home improvement "surprises" over the years myself.

I think you should leave it just like that ... then if you ever need "ammunition" in an argument with DH, all you have to do is point at the fan! ;)

Aw, it's special. :) Kinda looks like a flower. I think I'd have to leave it, just because. To quote Samuel L Jackson, Personality goes a long way. ;)

Who knows, maybe you've stumbled onto something there. Maybe it'll cause a down draft and keep the room cooler. (Or pull the whole unit out of the ceiling. Never mind.)

Oh my, that is one sad looking fan.

Out of curiousity I tried googling that 'tip' with HGTV and even searched their site and could find nothing suggesting what your hubby did. Is he sure he didn't hear them say to do that with PLASTIC regular fan blades? Those I could see being able to put in the dishwasher, but not anything wood like.

I hope your fan still works after that 'cleaning' treatment. lol

the "clean fans"? :D
