Spring is very late here this year, it's been cold and grey for so long, and Mother Nature is far behind her schedule.

But finally, there are some flowers now, and the world is looking more colorful! But it's still chilly and cold here, they even predicted snow for some areas!

Here are my first spring pictures of 2009:

As always, your photos are awesome! The white ones are snowdrops, aren't they?

What beautiful surroundings you live in, Kirsten. I envy you. The photos are breathtaking, as usual. Love the one of the pussy willow bud. (my fav)

Great photos! It's the same here: snowdrops are out- but they should have been out a month ago!
I hope snow stay away now. We had some two days ago- it didn't stay but we are fed up with it.

It is going to be a very pretty spring once it is full bloom... it is already pretty enough, eventhough it has just began. :)

I cannot wait for spring to get into full swing! Eventhough winter is my favortie season you just cannot beat seeing the world covered in flowers.

Thanks for sharing Germany's spring with us while we wait for ours.

Very pretty pictures, thanks for sharing! A few crocuses - but only those in very sheltered spots - are blossoming here, otherwise everything is still just peeping up above the ground ... we still have a couple spots with snow in the back yard!

Seems to be a long and cold winter everywhere!

Unfortunately, the sunny weather is over here for the time being, they predicted rain, snow and a storm... So I'm glad that I went downtown yesterday to take the photos.

The white ones are snowdrops, aren't they?

Yes, they are. Usually, they blossom in early February, but like I said, nature is far behind this year.

Sure makes me miss Germany!

Where in Germany did you live?

I hope snow stay away now. We had some two days ago- it didn't stay but we are fed up with it.

They predicted more snow, and I'm getting tired of it! As you know, Im not a fan of the hot summer season, but this long and grey winter is getting on my nerves. Since I have lost so many pounds, I'm always feeling cold now! LOL

WOW, I love the shots of the crocuses. It brings back a lot of fond memories of spring time in Europe. It seemed that every village you went to had thousands of crocuses growing on every green space. Our crocuses are just about through with their blooming since they have been out a while now. Our Dogwoods are on the verge of exploding into bloom and should all be fully out in a day our two. Thank you for your excellent pictures.:)

Aren't crocuses where we get saffron?

Saffron (pronounced /ˈsæfrən/, /ˈsæfrɒn/) is a spice derived from the dried stigma of the flower of the saffron crocus (Crocus sativus), a species of crocus in the family Iridaceae.
