I have found the absolute perfect wall decal for the nursery. I originally was really wanting to check out a muralist in the area to paint the entire room like a scene with Dr Seuss characters, but have since changed my mind.

So, I've got a few ideas for the room...but this wall decal will absolutely be the focal point of the wall. I'm so excited, I love when you get that feeling that you have found the PERFECT item for what you want to do!

I really wanted to have the baby's name somewhere in the room (like wooden letters or something) and I also wanted a Dr Seuss quote (either painted or with decals). This combines them both! YAYAYAYAYAYAYAY!!!!!!

Of course, the name will change, as well as the color. (and just to clarify, all we're using from this first photo is the lettering, probably in red...we're not using the paint idea from the first photo...although I do like the little stools!)

Added 03/09/09...We're almost 100% sure that we're going to copy this idea from the pottery barn website for our walls. Not necessarily exactly those shades of blue and yellow, but probably pretty close. We won't have the "one fish..." lettering, and the "oh the places..." will probably overlap some of the stripes and be in red lettering, but this gives us something to start with! (And, that is the bedding we got...undecided on the bumper, and not sure if the skirt is even part of the bedding at Pottery Barn.)

Here are a couple pieces of furniture that my parents will be bringing with them when our baby is born. They'll either make it to Texas when I'm nearing my due date or they'll wait til we go into labor. So, the nursery won't be 100% complete when baby arrives, but it will have all the necessities.

I love this bookcase, it's about 40 inches tall, so it's not a huge one, but I like it a lot. Not sure if we'll paint it or leave it white. The furniture will be a natural wood color, so painting it red might be fun. Same with the toybox.

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a86/southcarolinalife/BookCaseFromMom.jpg

This toybox is really cute! My mom's using it right now to store the baby stuff she's bought for us. It's about 16 inches tall, and it will fit perfectly under our window in the nursery. I plan to use it as a bench as well, so I may make a little cushion for it. It's exciting to start piecing the room together, even if it's only through photos right now!

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a86/southcarolinalife/ToyBoxFromMom.jpg

And, here are some of the little gifts my mother has picked up along the way. Their truck will be loaded down when they head to Texas to welcome our little girl! But, honestly, as long as the truck holds them safely, I'll be grateful.

Here's the crib we're getting...

The dresser...

And, the glider/ottoman...

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a86/southcarolinalife/gliderottoman.jpg

We decided to go with white, since the toy chest and bookcase my parents are bringing with them are both white.

06/30 Check out posts 29 and 30 for new photos! :) We opted out of getting the ottoman, I am just going to use a stationary object to elevate my feet. Lack of space and I honestly rock better when my feet have something to push against.

ahh I love that.
I have the "Oh Baby the Places You'll Go" book that is meant to be read in utero and now the boys ask me to read it to them:D

How sweet...my mom has already bought a few Dr Seuss books, and as soon as she lets me know which ones, I'll start buying them myself, too. We hope to have as many as possible before baby's arrival. :) I couldn't believe it when I saw this decal, though! I never thought of combining baby's name with the quote!

You're so cute. ;) My mom actually has a phrase "written" on her dining room wall with those letters and it just looks so pretty. I really think it's a neat, easy way to decorate!

I added a photo to share how we're painting the walls. I think, from the lack of response to the wall decals, that many people don't really like the idea so far. Which is ok. ;) But, hope my pals will check out the paint idea! (Even if it's not our own original idea, hee hee. :o)

Personally, I love them both! I couldn't even decide which I like better, both are absolutely perfect and adorable and original. The first one, however, is very girly and you may very well be having yourself a little boy :p but the second one is perfect and unisex.

So when do you find out? Have you thought about 3D ultrasound? They've got a ton of places in Dallas for that, but it's a little expensive.

Do you really think the lettering is girly? That's all we're using from that first photo, and the letters will be red, regardless of gender. We're not interested in the paint from the first photo, just the phrase. But, we'll be painting using the pattern from the second photo. Make more sense? hahah, or maybe I'm the confuzzled one.

We're due for our second sonogram on the 19th. I was under the impression that our last appointment was going to be looking at the baby again, but it was just a check up, question-answer session and listening to baby's heartbeat (which was strong, strong, strong!). We should find out at the next appointment, which will put me in my 18th week.

As for the 3D sonogram (or even 4D), if someone paid for it, I'd do it. They personally gross me out a little bit, and I'm not really pining to have one. ;) I like the 2D ones just fine, although I wouldn't pass up a 3 or 4D one if it was offered for cheap or free. ;)

Yes I meant the flowers on the wall, not the saying. As far as the saying, I think I like the first one better, but they're both just absolutely darling. I love them both so very much. I do like your taste in the outfits/nursery themes, etc. You've got good taste, girl :)

Yeah I never wanted to spend the money for 3D ultrasound. If insurance doesn't pay for it, we just couldn't justify paying for that when there were so many more important things that we needed. Becides, I'm extremely intuitive and I knew, knew, knew Quinn was a girl before I even saw her little girly parts, I was almost as certain this one was a boy before I saw his mini boy parts. I guess I found the 3D a waste of money.

Cool, I was hoping that you were referring to the flowers. ;) I wouldn't use them even if I was having a girl, they just don't do it for me. I think they're cute as heck, though! The "Oh the places..." is my favorite quote for the nursery, for sure...the other one I'd like to use in a smaller format (maybe on a trunk we'll put under the window) is the "A person's a person, no matter how small." I'll be sure to post photos as we create the nursery. :) We won't be using white furniture, either, although the white looks gorgeous!

Thanks for the compliments! :D

I have no idea what we're having. :) But, I'm excited, either way. And, yeah, if the 3D sonograms I've seen hadn't been squishy and weird looking, I'd pay the money to do it. But, they really do sort of freak me out. David feels the same way.

I like the decal. (I've looked at this, but just realized I'd never posted anything.) Also, if the gingham bed skirt doesn't come with the Pottery Barn set, but you like the look, check out Wal-Mart's website. Katherine's whole crib bedding set is gingham. Hers is green and white, but they do have red & white, and they do sell the pieces separately. The price is great, too.

Awesome, I will check that out for sure! Thanks for the suggestion! The crib has a drawer underneath it so it might be nice to "hide" that! :)

I love the simplicity of the bottom photo. The colors are so cool. The wall reminds me of beadboard.

Kari, this is so much fun watching you have a blast with this. Thanks. I can pretend it's my grandchild.;)(if it's ok with you).

Forgive me, but what's beadboard? And, of course, little one will have an honorary Pet Talk Grandma in you, Terry!

:) :) :) Thank you, Kari!!!

I found a picture of beadboard but it's not real good. I don't know why the picture reminds me of it but it does. I have this great love of beadboard and all things that look like it. I think it's the "country" feel. Here goes:

I know you don't see where I get the connection. I'm so weird sometimes. Does it make any sense?

I totally see it! :) It is kindof a country feel. That's partly my intention. Because it is such a BRIGHT, cartoonish theme, I really want to "tame" it down with softer paint, and more old fashioned accessories. But, I also found a clock that is really funky and trippy, sorta like Dr. Seuss' work! It's too expensive, but if I can find one like it, I'll get it

Ohhh, I love both.

I really like the Dr. Seuss books too. The first book I read was one fish....

I will start purchasing some as soon as I have a place to put them.
After we decide on a crib, we'll get little bookcase and toy trunk that will match.

Other books I'd like to get are little golden books and disney. Those were all my favorite as a child. I would still have mine but I gave them away to a little girl I used to tutor English to in Italy. :)

I had the nursery painted last week but no theme.
It's bone color paint with white trim.
My husband and I prefer wall handings and decals so if we get tired of looking at them, we can take them down and put different ones up. Depending on the kind of bedding I get, the room will have matching decals and wall hangings. I registered for several bedding sets. I like too many kinds.
I wish I could find a girly bedding set with puppies/dogs on it.
What I've seen is for boys only.

As for 3D and 4D ultrasound, I have looked around and the cheapest place that does it is my own OB for 125 dollars. We might splurge and get it done. I believe it's done between 28 and 32 weeks.

I thought the 3 and 4D were way more than that, I say go for it! :D

We ordered our nursery furniture tonight! We hope to get it within the next couple weeks. WHEEE, I'm so excited! We taped off the spaces for each piece on the carpet in the room, and give or take a few inches here and there, we should be good to go. Here are the photos...we decided on white. We decided against a changing table, because we are limited on space. We should be able to use the top of the dresser, though.

The paint turned out great! We just have to do a little touching up on some of the stripes and we will be set! The colors are awesome, I love the way it turned out! And, I think we are going to order a set of red and white gingham drapes for the window. :) It's coming together, now!

WHEE!!!! We put our crib and glider together tonight. We'll do the dresser tomorrow. I love how it turned out. That little toy box under the window is only temporary. My mother will bring hers when little one is born and my parents head out this way. :) They'll also bring the bookcase, so the nursery won't be complete until after baby comes.

Here are a few photos! :)

This is a little ornament my mom sent me awhile back. :)

The blanket was David's when he was an infant. His grandmother made it out of old sweaters. It's too big for the crib, but I'll use it to cover myself when it's chilly. Baby would get lost in it right now, but it'll make for a good photo shoot, I think. :)

The incredible blanket my aunt made for us. I love the scalloped edges!

Thanks, guys! We have our fourth and final baby shower on Saturday (a week from tomorrow) and then it's time to really shop! ;) We have so many gift cards, so we should be able to get everything we need that we didn't get as gifts. It's so nice, especially with the economy being the way it is, that we are able to give our new baby everything she'll need to come into this world. I lived a blessed life, truly. :)
