View Full Version : Anyone want a yorkie?

I went to Wal-Mart earlier this evening, and on my way in I heard a puppy whining. I didn't think much of it because I thought someone had a puppy in their car.. As I was turning around to go in, I saw a little black blob walking around across from where I was standing.. The closer I got, I soon realized it was a baby puppy.
I honestly don't think anyone would dumb this little guy out like that, so I'm wondering if someone didn't have him in their car and didn't notice some how that he fell out. He is very tiny.
I stayed outside there for about 30 minutes to see if anyone came back. I also went inside to the service desk and gave them my phone numbers and told them that if anyone came in looking for a yorkie pup to give me a call.
I'm still shocked that he was there in the parking lot.

He's very young.. His teeth are just barely starting to come in on the bottom.

I don't know if he's a full-blooded yorkie. I've never really seen one in person as a pup.. He looks like one though.

How tiny! OMGosh he is so lucky that you -- a PT'er -- came along!

I can't imagine how he ever got there in the first place.

Is he eating solid foods? You said his teeth are just coming in, so I was curious.

molucass

He tried to eat dry food but he kept getting choked.
I gave him some canned food, and put a little puppy milk in it and he ate every bit of it.

He's cute! I think he may be all yorkie if you look at this picture. What we had to do with Rudy, we had to wet down his food for awhile they have small teeth since he's a rat terrier mix! and maybe get puppy small bites food? that may be easier for him.

here's pics of baby yorkies.

he looks more like a yorkie chi mix...at least for now... he does not have all that hair and being so small he might grow it later

I think he looks chi-yorkie also. Cute little fella. Glad you came across him, hate to think what might have happened to him if he decided to hide up under a car tire:( Give that little baby some love from me.

Good Golly ~ He could get beat up by a Hamster! :p

He'd do well to be temporarily 'adopted' into another lil-mutt family - so a
Foster Dog-Mom could teach him some puppy manners ...
Maybe ask your Vet if there's another puppy litter with 'room for one more'?

Best Wishes for the Lil Guy!!

I was browsing for yorkie puppy pictures, and this pup looks exactly like him.
http://www.puppyfind.com/member_photos/full/2/25j1q225078.jpg

The way it stands, ears, the tail, hair not grown out yet, etc.

It doesn't matter to me one way or the other whether or not its full blooded..

Anyway, he went to the vet this afternoon.. He got a clean bill of health, and was given some wormer. The vet said he is too young for his shots yet. She said she thinks he is around 4-5 weeks old.

I'd contact vets and humane societies and put an ad in the paper for a found puppy. As cute as he is surely someone is missing him. Good luck with him. I too think Yorkie/Chi.

4 to 5 WEEKS!!! WHAT on earth is he doing off on his own???

I agree with some one's suggestion, if a mom dog with a litter could foster him for a few weeks. Did the vet give you any ideas for feeding? Or will you keep with what you found worked?

Oh so tiny, what a love! Give snuggles from me, please!

I gave my contact info to the 2 vets here in my town (including my own), and to the local dog pound.. I also gave Wal-mart my contact info in case the person came back in looking for the pup. We also have local on-line classifieds and I put him on there.

I asked my vet about giving him the canned food and the puppy formula. She said if he was eating it, she didn't see any reason to change it up. Just the main thing to do is to make sure he does eat, because pups his size can have problems with their blood sugar. Which I already knew because our chihuahua only weighed 10 oz. when we got him at 6 weeks.

This little man weighed 16.03 oz. which is just barely a pound.

Oh, goodness he is adorable! Thank goodness you paid attention and found him! I hope if he belonged to someone they see your notices - he is way to young to be on his own! Thank you for rescuing him!

I agree Chi/Yorkie, his coat is much too smooth to be pure bred.
I can't beileve he is out that young, maybe a momma that lives outside or stray had pups and he wondered off.

thats what we did with abandoned heeler pups at the shelter where I volunteer. I hope he makes out okay and he could be all yorkie, his hair just needs to grow out. look at Rudy he was barely shaggy and now he's a shaggy pup! ;) but I don;t think he has yorkie in him. It's a good thing you found this boy!

OH! I can't STAND it, have you named him yet? I mean, you've had him over 24 hours, you have to be calling him SOMETHING! (It is a male, right?)

And . . . is it even possible you can keep him, if no one claims him? ;)

I am so glad you found him!

I would totally take him If I were closer.. Dangit..
Well I hope you can either keep him, or find him a loving home.. I think you should def keep him untill he's 8-12 weeks before giving him away.. It might stress him out to go thro so many environmental changes, he is so young.. Much to young to be out there all alone, thats for sure.. I wonder who he belonged to originally?? So odd to see a small breed dog, so young, out there in public all alone!!!

Have you named him yet?
Maybe we could all figure out a name together :)

I like Sparky :D

putting the new pup on deebos' back is telling deebo that the pup is dominate
over him, dogs can express dominance by resting head on the others body. that might be a problem depending on deebo. being a chi, how assertive is deebo? BTW the pictures are really cute

ok I have been watching the thread and am obsessed with the little one! So cute, it makes me so sad he was left alone. I have found a couple dogs around in the past year and it just breaks my heart:(. Luckily the couple I have found, we shortly found their parents after. I found a min pin, natural ears and tail. He fell in love with me. we had him about 8 hours and finally saw the signs. They had no idea. They had him for 2 hours. just got back from the breeder and put him in the back yard. no collar, no chip, nothing i felt so bad for him. when we got a hold of the family the dog wouldn't get out of my car and cried when we gave him back. I must admit i did too, the little boy picked him up and gave us his allowance he had saved, I said use that for a collar and make sure the fence is secure since min pins are sneaky sometimes and gave the money back. I still miss little rex:rolleyes:
anyways. the little man is so cute, hopefully he has a home with you and if not I love him already:D haha thanks for posting more pictures!!!!!

I was a little worried about that, too. Deebo looks really uncomfortable in one of the pics (ears way back, eye whites showing, tightened mouth), but I'm assuming the Pup only kept that pose for about 1 minute at most so I'm sure it's just a fleeting memory now :)

In the one picture where you can see my hand holding the puppy on Deebo's back, I just did that to keep him still for the one pic after he already climbed up on his back. I didn't put him there.. Deebo is a little upset that there is a new little man around here, but I wouldn't do anything to make Deebo feel like the pup is more important.

His owners claimed him..
They had pictures of him from age 2 weeks (from the breeder) up till right before he was lost..
Like I had thought, he got out of their car, and they didn't realize it. Their daughter is 6, and they said she must have left the door open on the car a little too long, and some how didn't realize that he had fallen out.

They didn't seem like the best of owners, but I couldn't keep him from them since it was obviously their dog..
I really do miss him.

His name is Mason, and he is indeed a yorkie/chihuahua mix.
