Read a news item that former First Cat "Socks", the Tuxedo that shared the Clinton White House, is terminally ill with cancer......a very sad thing, so few felines achieve First Cat status, there just are not many, even Obama is going with a dog--Apparently Socks has been living with an aide since 2001, not with the Clntons -- the aide provided the news--

Oh, poor socks. My heart and thought go out to the little guy. Dealing with cancer is never fun or easy. I am praying that I miracle will happen and he will pull through this. :love::love::love:

Clintons' Socks Has Poor Prognosis

U.S. News' Washington Whispers blog reports today that our former First Cat, Socks, is suffering from cancer, weight loss and kidney problems, and is not expected to live much longer. The black-and-white feline with white feet may be, as the Whispers blog states, "the most photographed presidential kitty in history." The Clintons adopted Socks in 1991, and he has been living with President Clinton's former personal secretary Betty Currie in southern Maryland since the Clintons left office in 2001. Ghost author of Dear Socks, Dear Buddy: Kids' Letters To First Pets told U.S. News that, while acting as First Cat, Socks "was nothing but a gentleman. He was elegant and a perfect resident of the White House."

Bill Clintons cat suffering from terminal cancer

New York, Dec 16 (ANI): Socks, a cat that had belonged to former US President Bill Clintons family, is reportedly suffering from terminal cancer.

Socks, 19, had been a homeless kitten in Little Rock, Ark., before he was adopted by Chelsea Clinton in 1991, and had first lived in the governor’’s mansion with the Clintons before moving to the White House with the family.

The kittys health started deteriorating this year and as per a report in June from Southern Maryland Newspapers Online, Socks was battling a thyroid condition and had begun losing some of his hair.

His days are numbered, the New York Daily News quoted presidential historian Barry Landau as telling the U.S. News & World Report blog Washington Whispers.

Landau is a friend of Socks” caretaker Bettie Currie, who served as President Bill Clinton’’s private secretary during his eight years in office and took the cat after the Clintons left the White House.

We”re a little concerned, Currie had said in June after it was found that Socks also kidney problems and had lost weight, dropping from 14 pounds down to 10.

Linda Kulman, who is a ghostwriter on Hillary Clintons book Dear Socks, Dear Buddy: Kids Letters to First Pets, said that the feline is one of a kind.

He was nothing but a gentleman. He was elegant and a perfect resident of the White House. He won”t soon be replaced, author Linda Kulman told Washington Whispers.

He is the last of his kind, she added. (ANI)

That si such a shame, as Socks was so good for Ctas when he lived at the White House as he had an open invitation for All The Animal Angels to visit , and share his meals.
And on a personal note , I love those Ctas with White and Black Marking, the Scrappy Look.
We are praying that Socks is not in pain, and is resting comfortably.:love::love:
