The shelter I volunteer at is getting renovated. They started the renovations in April and they will be done by the end of December! :D I am super excited for the animals. You have no idea how stressed they are right now. The cats need to share cages that are so tiny, they can hear the dogs barking, and worst of all the poor gerbils, budgies, rabbits, etc are right on top of the cat cages. The shelter is so overpopulated the cages of cats are stacked in the lobby! I feel so bad for the budgies, they are always being watched by the cats. It's really noisy and smelly too thanks to the doggies. This is what it looks like now:

small cages with 2 dogs in it.

look in the back, that is the one room where its a little less quite but it still so stressful, especially to the kitties who don't like other cats

This is amazing! I can't wait till they put the trees in. If they are still planning it. :D

No barking, it's SOUND PROOF glass, no smell. :D

this is a different shelter, but this is how they got the idea.

What do you think? Much better right? I can't believe how nice this place is going to be. It looks like they have finally achieved the cage free enviorment.

Sounds like it will be a much better place - both for the animals, and for visitors!

Yes, it looks a lot like the new renovations they made to the shelter I had to take my rats to. (:() It's very nice there both for the animals and for visitors. I'm sure your shelter will be great when finished, and make sure they have an open house when it's done. It gets out the word that the shelter is a nice place to get a new pet.
