As you all know I had to adopt out Luca to a new home. Yesterday, after corresponding with a lady for a while, Luca chose his new person/home. It was love at first sight. He listened to her through his commands, and played with her and even smooshed his forehead into her chest which he rarely does to anyone at all, just mostly family or me. He didn't even hesitate jumping into her car after I said goodbye(which I mainly did at home before bringing him out to meet her). I have cried most of the night knowing my big lovable black ox is now gone forever from my life. And I know I will be misserable for a while even as I increase Ajax's training and start college. But they promised me updates. And knowing he is in a wonderful home where he will get the care I could no longer afford makes it a little easier. So I will add pictures to this thread for others to remember special moments. This is a place to remember him and say good only.

He is so handsome.

I'm glad to hear he has found someone else he loves to go with now.

What a gentle soul.

Those are great pictures. You can always look back at them and remember the handsome guy. It's great you found such a good home for him. I hope they do give you updates, at least for a while.

Luca shared his meals with the ferrets? Oh my, I couldn't continue looking at the rest of the photos, I had to stop and laugh out loud! What a pup! You must have posted that photo before I joined PT? Or maybe I just forgot about it, what ever.

Blessings go with you, handsome boy.

I am glad he has found a good home, and a human he immediately felt comfortable enough with to do the forehead smoosh to - that's a good sign.
I know this was hard for you, but it is important for your own sanity, and just think what a blessing he will be in his new home as well.

I'm very sorry you're having to go through this, but I'm glad you were able to find such a good home for Luca. :)

What a very lucky dog Luca is, to get not only one, but two wonderful loving homes. Everything he is will always be a part of you, too. He is so handsome and gentle, and it sounds like he already feels comfortable with his new family. Best wishes for both of you.

Got my first update today. He sounds so happy. They had a long way to get home so part way there they stopped at a hotel and he did great with her. Sleeping on the bed and all. (Luca loves to cuddle right up). THen when they got home he ate no problem and the same with the night before. Which shows immediate bonding and trust on his part. He would always starve himself for a length of time when seperated from me. Not this time. And it took all of two minutes for him to accept the other 2 dogs. She took him to work with her yesterday where he was perfect at meeting tons of new faces.

She promises pictures later this week. I am so proud of how well he is adjusting and how good he is behaving. I am so glad I found someone who can see what an awsome dog he is.

Nicole, I'm so sorry. He is just stunning, what a prime example of the breed. I love the third photo. He's sounds like he's getting along fine. I know he'll be happy.

As painful as it is, I hope the fact Luca's relaxed, happy and adjusting perfectly helps ease your sadness. We'll all miss him too and look forward to more pictures. I hope 2009 is good to you, Nichole.
