While its still the 10th here its allready veterans day elsewhere.

The 10th of November is the United States Marine Corps birthday. November 10th 1994 I was at MCRD San Diego. The commanding officer of the medical platoon played the bagpipes and he led us in the Marines Hymn. 14 years later I can still hear the pipes and us recruits singing and I still get a tingle up my spine.

A pic of myself and my mom the day I watched my training platoon graduate.

Um, what did you do to yourself? I see you with a splint and crutches!

Thanks for your service, and Semper Fi.

You have to look closer but I had not one but two robo-boots (splints).

I joined but never made it out of Boot. I spent 4 months in Boot instead of 11 and a half weeks, about half of that was in the broken platoon. Extensive stress fractures to both ankles caused by tendons stretching, also causing chronic bursitis in both hips. You cant be a Marine if you cant run. 13 years later if I try to run a mile I cant walk the next day.

I learned a lot about our countries history as well as the history of the USMC in those 4 months and I am extremely proud of both.
