As time goes on I think we all slow down a bit.
I know I have.
The Edster is probably looking at the same kind of changes too. As you may well know, Ed and I go back and forth to check out my mom's house. When we started making the trip, he was carried like a child. Later, he was able to go on his own! I was very happy about his progress and now just had to ask him, "Ed, wanna go?" or "Comeonlet'sgo!" Other itmes he sees me head toward the door and jumps to the threshold to wait for me.
There are times when I open the door, he'll take a few steps onto the porch and stops- he looks around and with his tail tip doing a little twitching back and forth dance. I have to laugh at this part of our walk...I can read his tail so well now...if it flips, he's checking out the area, no movement means that he's locked on to something or someone. There are other times that I have half a second to see, decode and watch Ed's arse disappearing into the yard.
The last two times Ed has taken off it was because the neighborhood kitties are in the yard hanging out. I take off in pursuit and hope and pray that I won't have to run around like a maniac chasing my cat around the yard, in the dark, barefooted.
Lately the marathons have been sprints, short little races after the Edster, ending in a few seconds with him at a stand-still. He doesn't go Hell-bent-for-leather! I races off and stops. Perfectly still-as if wondering what his next move should be. I am thankful for this sudden change in training. I don't have to run as far, as fast or wonder where he is off to!
part two to follow!
