This popped up on my machine a few minutes ago, and it did NOT want to be closed. Here is the scoop on it; more info available if you click the link.

XP Antivirus 2009 is classified as a rogue scanner, sometimes referred to as scareware. Rogue scanners masquerade as antivirus, antispyware, or other security software, claiming the user's system is infected in order to trick them into paying for a full version. In some cases, users who pay for the full version of a rogue scanner product will end up with erroneous charges on their credit card after purchase. For example, a rogue scanner may claim the price is $49 but the charge that appears on the credit card may be as high as $190 or more.

Two days ago I used Bear Share to download some music onto a disk for work, now I have a virus.:mad::mad:
Has this happened to anyone else?
Is there a safe website where you can download music to disk for free?
The music I was looking for is for people over 65, Big Band, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby.
Thanks everyone

Pay a couple of bucks and save yourself the virus hassle.

Do you have a virus protection system up and running, and do you update it regularly? It should have nipped the virus when it arrived.

AVG Free edition updates itself, as does Avast. Avast also runs in real time, so you don't have to schedule a scan time (like you do with AVG).

I figured out that these things are fake a long time ago when it reported that my Linux machine had a Windows virus. Right.
