I've been down a lot lately, and was cleaning in the back room when I stumbled upon photos taken from my abdominal surgery, seven years ago.
We've got a lot of new members since then, so I thought I'd share our story...
Four months after adopting Kia, in late October, I was resting in bed when she quietly approached me. She placed her nose into my right side, sniffed a little, then gently and slowly pressed in. When I hissed in pain, she backed off and repeated the process twice.
In amazement, I called my doctor who scheduled a laparoscopy.
Turns out I had endometriosis and the scar tissue was wrapped around my appendix and as the doctors later told me it was "not in very good condition" and it was a blessing that it was caught in time. The appendix was removed (as was most of the scar tissue).
Can't imagine what would of happened had it ruptured.
I'm very grateful to Kia for that nose of hers.
I still experience pain from the endometriosis, but it's not as bad as it used to be. Through all the ups and downs, Kia's been by my side.
I couldn't ask for a more wonderful companion even when she's pushing my buttons. ;) :D
