Hello all animal lovers,

I was deeply saddened to read the following story in my local newspaper this morning: http://www.capecodonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20081027/NEWS11/81027005 .This shelter was already struggling before the break in. I am so upset that I can barely work today. I wanted to share the story with someone that would understand how I feel.

It breaks my heart that I am only able to help a few animals have a better life. What about all the others?

:(:(:(

Nelly,

We had a break in at the Meriden Human Society a few months back. Unfortunately, unlike the animals at the Cape Cod Shelter, the thieves released over 60 cats, stealing a pitbull puppy that was later found in a dumpster. I hope that with all the media attention, the CC shelter will have donations coming in. The media is a very powerful tool.

Do these thieves not realize that animal shelters are struggling? A thousand bucks means everything to a shelter but it's hardly a good haul for a thief. They mustn't be too bright. It's just shameful.

I ditto what Gary said. They probably wanted it for drugs and it could mean life or death for those animals.

What total low lifes! Donna is right about the media. Hopefully with the publicity the shelter will receive more than the amount that was stolen.

Ditto, Gary!
