I thought this was surprising, or maybe enlightning on the way she thinks.

If closing bars a couple hours earlier would negatively impact the local economy...that is a pretty sorry economy.

The woman is a politician through and through...whatever it takes to get the votes!

Gosh darn it...her sayin' she is, like a maverick! Gosh darn it, it just ain't so!

Man.... in my younger days I wish last call was at 5:30.

I don't really see how cutting last call back to 2:30 would help with drunk driving though. maybe they will be ... less drunk? I don't know.

I must live in the wrong place :D Only closing hour I've ever heard of is 2am.

I figure it gives them 3 more hours to get sober before driving to work?

LOL well I guess there is that. Yeah I think I would have been in deep trouble in my younger days if the bars didn't close until 5:30... it was bad enough getting home by 3 and having to be up by 5:30 lol. I guess if 5:30 were last call I would have to wear my work uniform to the bar and head straight to work

That's precious!

Now if she had said that because of her religion she should go ahead and vote on the side of it?

She'd be accused of not separating church and state. These effing morons are really gunning for her. I guess it's a matter of perception.

She's screwed no matter what she does or thinks.

-----------------

I wonder if it came out in the news that she had irregular menses it would be used against her for not being a 'regular' woman.

Yes...poor little thing. How about if she said that it was because she thinks there should be less drunks on the road? No religion. Just good sense.

Guess that is just a matter of perception! Gosh darn it!

The Anchorage City Council had a big part in trying to get the Wasilla laws changed. Anchorage bars close at 2am, some of the patrons would leave at last call or closing time and head to the Valley to continue drinking. The smart ones would cab it out and back. If I knew where to find the DUI stat breakdown Ild post it, but from 3am on most of the DUIs are residents of Anchorage.

I have been very good at not getting suckered into any exchanges lately but I do want to mention this.

Hypocrite? Hypocrite?

Many columns and scathing comments get out in the media about SP.
She's a dumb woman, not qualified, a heart beat away, her voice, looks like a porn star, has a kid that shold be cared after, has a sexually active daughter that is her fault.....

She is a pariah!

Most of the shots are taken by women who are nasty, vengeful, mean spirited and just plain rude. Time and time again they repeat the same thing-like a parrot. It's an ongoing thing that makes all women sound kind of -well, like women!

This is where I have to laugh.

I really don't know what it's like to be a woman, Altho I have been one on television-no, that's not true......maybe during a skit or play! I like women, have loved them and maybe even seen one naked before. Don't ask me about it, it was an accident-actually, it as two. The second one was on purpose..

Then I got into high school and I saw a Playboy....No, that was in grade school. But, that makes three....But there was Nancy....Four....ah, Kathy.....five.......Get the picture? Oh, I remember that picture!

SIX!:D

And Shirley-She was number seven, but nude she was a 10!

--------

Anyway, I make a comment about how SPs life is open to the world and the all of a sudden the women who are shooting arrows and guns at her, circle the wagons in her defense because the I made a little mention of menses.

Hypocrite? I should say so. IT's the old STUPID, MEAN HIGH SCHOOL GIRL mentality-women knifing each other in the back, but heaven forbid any man jump into the fray. For or Against.

IN a man's world i would be welcomed in the fight with open arms by the aggressors. Your enemy is mine and all that jazz.

People will slam this lady all day long-look at the examples. SP should quit, go home and take care of her baby, is not qualified-all the WOMAN kind of prejudices, started by woman! NO common ground there!

But when it comes down to a small joke or observation from the male point of view? The same piggishly chauvanistic females begin to defend their sisterhood, moon cycles and all things from Venus.

Hypocrites?

Naw, it's that wacky world women live in. They beg to be given a chance, equality and a piece of the world. But first they have to destoy it, Just like the home improvement shows on the tube, before they are satisfied.

I could see where this started.

Back when men and women lived in caves.

One gal didn't like the color of the walls, so they started to paint pictures of hunting and animals on the rock.

And it hasn't stopped since.

Move a woman into a home today and she'll want to tear the dang thing down before she is satisfied. It's the nature of the beast.

Go ahead, tear each other apart. And when a guy shows up to watch, keep going, don't stop.

When you stop the fight to protect you own sisters...it makes you look.....Well, like a hypocrite.:eek::confused:

Whatever. What matters is the way she thinks her political
advancement depends on pandering to the local barkeepers & to hell with
what's really in the best interest of everyday people. She should go far in
the Republican party.

Quote from the article:

"The bar flap represents a pivotal interlude in the political development of Palin, who sided with local saloon keepers and cast the deciding vote against a measure to reset pub closing times to 2:30 a.m. weekdays and 3 a.m. weekends. Tavern owners then rallied around Palin's successful challenge to Wasilla's longtime mayor, with campaign records showing that two of them alone provided 15 percent of the campaign cash she took in from supporters. "

I have heard her speak, and time after time, to me, she's an idiot. She's an idiot for thinking and agreeing to run for VP. She is not smart enough or polished enough or experienced enough. Sorry. Sarah needs to stay where she is and wait for another phone call, hopefully years and years from now, if ever.

She is one huge embarrassment to me.

Each article I read about her and every time I see her interviewed etc. she confirms my suspicions - yep - she's out of her league, plain and simple.

Yes RICHARD, you have admirably tried to stay out of the fray.

But as you admit (I think) to not being a woman let me explain some things to you.

Because a politican has, has had or will have mense does not mean I have to support her.

Females are allowed to disagree with other females.

Just as blacks do not have to agree or support every black person who runs for political office.

Just as I KNOW you do not agree with every politican with gonads.

Does that mean you are
nasty, vengeful, mean spirited and just plain rude?

Or do you reserve that for women who disagree with other women?

And...based on your misogynistic rant (again!)...how do you justify the men who disagree with Ms. Palin's politics. You know...like George Will?

Let me explain to you...the criticism I have seen on this and other threads from women has been about Ms. Palin political positions, statements, actions and qualifications.

Not how she tilts her head, the jewelry she does or doesn't wear, the name she chooses to use, what she does or doesn't look like naked, or any of her body functions.

It is possible to see Ms. Palin as a politican -- irrespective of gender. And agree or disagree accordingly.

Your defense of Ms. Palin does puzzle me as you usually have such disdain for successful women.

Gosh darn it all!

I love the standards by which women politicians are measured.

No comments or complaints about the blithering, blinking, botoxed bimbette, Nancy Pelosi.

Or how's about any of the other Cah Lee Fuh Nee ahn women idio----ah, dopes who run the way things are? Stay frazzled and vengeful.

Again, I love to watch all the pundits and read the columns that disparage women-mostly written by women.

It shows a real scummy side of how people react to things in real life.

Mein Gott!

So, no one wants to argue against my rant?

Hmmm, I could be called a liar, a hypocrite, a chauvanist and what else?
Just as I thought. Maybe there was a hint of truth in it.

Mean girls snapping at the gal is popular at the moment....

She may be the bimbette, stupid gal. But, check her out.

She looks good in a dress, has nice legs and everyone wants to dance with her. She may be guilty of pulling the wool (or elk fur) over everyone's eyes-but she's out on the dance floor.

There is a differnce between waters that are deep and unknown and the shallow, little rivers that only serve to erode the banks on which they flow.

Don't read between the lines, just read the lines themselves. You evidently
don't see anything wrong with a bar full of drunks being dumped back onto
the streets right went most regular folks are heading off to work & kids off
to school? Sounds like a recipe for disaster & all for just a few more bucks
into the pockets of bar owners. Sorry, that's wrongheaded in my book.

What kid do you know that goes to school at 5:30 am?

so it's better to dump them into the streets at 3 am because they won't kill as many people?

How about doing more to STOP these people from drinking and driving. I guess that's just too much to ask.

I have an idea... BAN ALCOHOL. Oh wait... tried that.

So... NO I don't see a problem with it... What I have a problem with is drunk Driving... PERIOD. Could be at midnight, 2:30, 5:30 or noon or even 5 in the afternoon... but changing the bar hours isn't going to stop drunk driving.

Maybe there should be laws on what hours during the day you can drink?

People who work the night shift are going to start drinking when the dayshift is starting. Since the night shift workers dont have open bars to hang out with their buddies, they are going to congregate somewhere and then drive home.
