Its a cute little game where you raise dragons from hatchlings...they grow based on the number of views they get so its kind of a community thing.

Some mindless fun (even safe for work!)

www.dragcave.net (http://www.dragcave.net)

Don't forget to click on others dragons :D If you click on mine, be sure to post the link to yours and I'll click too.

It is based on a balanced amount of clicks + views + unique views. Although, you need significantly less clicks than views (so, they are somewhat less important). If it becomes unbalanced then your eggs get sick with soft shell.

I will also click eggs. :)

Whoo hoo! I got one!

Let's see if I can get this html thing to work right:

<a href="http://dragcave.net/viewdragon/G6JJ"><img src="http://dragcave.net/image/G6JJ.gif" style="border-width: 0" alt="Adopt one today!"/></a>

Got a second one, same color though:
<a href="http://dragcave.net/viewdragon/yje1"><img src="http://dragcave.net/image/yje1.gif" style="border-width: 0" alt="Adopt one today!"/></a>

And a third, lol. This is already addicting. :D
<a href="http://dragcave.net/viewdragon/U9ir"><img src="http://dragcave.net/image/U9ir.gif" style="border-width: 0" alt="Adopt one today!"/></a>

A gude to what clicks, views and unique views are and how to prevent your dragons from being sick.

New eggs for me! My hatchlings are sick from getting too many views too quick but in a day or two it should clear up.
Hope yalls dragons are doing well! :D

If you catch sickness early, a day of hiding usually fixes the problem. Glad you got another egg though!

Awesome, just awesome, Krissy. :p :D You get all females but no males on your first go! XD I only just recently have gotten two females. The pink one rejected the male I tried to put her with, too. :p

My mint has gold in his lineage so hopefully that will come out in a future breeding! :D

Does anyone have any pairs planned for future breeding? :) I am hoping to pair my stone male, magi male, mint male, split male, and grey male with potential females. :) My next available days are Thursday and Friday, I believe. I am going to try my pink with my stone and my purple with my magi. :D

Mine wont be ready for breeding for a couple of days...at what maturity level do they need to be to breed?
I know I have at least one more female on the way...;)

I am hoping to breed my Pink and White, the Pink is going to grow up in a hour or two, the White sometime tommorow.

That should be an interesting combo...let us know what happens ;)

They can breed immediately upon reaching adulthood. Some say it is best to wait a day or two because the female seem to have a higher rate of rejecting males during that time. However, my first successful breeding was done shortly after Sohtym (my purple) matured. ^_^

Which one? The pink or the guardian? :p

Sweet! You will probably get one of each. Who knows though! You have a pretty varied lineage, for the size, with gold and guardian and such! :D

Ugh... My four hatchlings finally grew enough to see what their genders were, and guess what? Two I knew were going to be females because they were purple, but the other two, of course, "happened" to be female too, lol. Ah well. Hopefully I'll get 4 males next time around. :D anyone going to take part in the halloween mass breed? There's a thread and a poll about it in the DC forums. I wish I could, but I don't think I'll have any mature, mate-able dragons by then. Hmph.

By the way, DJ, your hatchling with the shield tail is sick (in case you didn't already know).

Thanks for letting me know. My hatchlings were hidden...then I un-hid them for all of about 20 minutes and they had to be hidden again :p

Hopefully they wont stay sick. I need to get some males though...all of mine thus far are female!

LOL! You guys have no idea how lucky you are! :p Or you probably do, but, most people have trouble getting females. :p :D

I was not aware of the mass breeding. I will have to check out the forums. Is something special supposed to happen?

Try and pick up eggs from the abandoned page. Try to get the ones with four or less days, hatchlings even better! As long as you had an egg by the 26th then you will likely have an adult by Halloween (as they hatch, and grow up, at 3.5 day marks). Also, you *could* forcibly hatch the eggs but then there's still a smaller chance of them dying. (You have to do it when they are under four days)

I FINALLY got the Skywing that I've been wanting! :D Unfortunately, I also missed a couple of papers, a chicken, some dinos, and I'm pretty sure a gold and a silver. :p

Good for you Wenisrubber. :)

YAY!!!! I logged on this morning, and they're all growded up! :D

Now to try to snatch some more eggs. Yes, I think the abandoned page is the best spot as well. I've seen some hatchlings there. I'll let you know what I get. :D

Edited to say: Check my siggy! Got 4 more eggs. 1 only has 2 days or so left before it'll die. :(

Check out http://emmilely.exofire.net its a good place to post eggs, especially dying ones as it gets a LOT of views and clicks. Eggs are released on the main page on the hour so look right when the hour switches over and you'll be able to get some eggs usually.

I use that website tons, guess how my eggs actually hatched! Oh, and My Old Computer + 3 eggs that go extremely fast = epic fail on my side.

Awww. Yes, I've been using that site for about 5 days now. Between that one and Gwenevere's site, I haven't had to post eggs anywhere else. It's a good thing too, because most of those sites have been blocked here at work. Oh well. As long as I can still get my dargons grown up, that's all that matters. :)

Have you seen the links on Gwenevere's site to make your own? It would seem that you could make them as big or small as you want.... But then again, I'm not the most knowledgable about image sizes and signatures. :)

I also managed to pick up a hatchling off the abandoned page. That's only the second time I've seen one. :D

Gracefulsarah
10-14-2008, 02:26 PM
I don't much care for Gwenevere's incubators, they don't show the different stages of cracking and growing wings, and you have to drag and drop every single one of your dragons onto it. If TJ would ever fix the CDN, I would be using that.

True. It is a pain. Probably why I haven't done one yet, lol. :D

I was finally able to pick up another split egg a few days ago. Hopefully it turns out to be female. :) I missed a few papers, gold, silvers, dinos, etc, and such though! :D I, also, picked up a vine, a pebble, another split, and another that I forgot. I "force" hatched the vine and the pebble. I put the third split and the pebble hatchling on the adoption page. I am waiting to see if my current vine is an alt, my skywing and water to grow into adults, and my second split to hatch. So, I am going to see if I can go snag a couple more eggs! :D

I've been wondering, how do you force an egg to hatch? I've seen it mentioned several times today on the DC forum, but I can't seem to see how it's done...

When it gets close to hatching, go to the actions menu and select kill egg. There is a slight chance you may actually kill the egg (especially if its too close to hatching or it has soft shell) but most of the time it will force the egg to hatch.

Indeed! I would recommend that if you wish to "force" hatch your egg that you wait until it is in the 4.00 range (up to 4.99, but I theorize that the less time the better your success) or less. There are three possibilities: you can force hatch and it will die, it will hatch and you will catch it, or it will hatch and scamper away. Most of the time, for me, I will catch it. I did have one run away from me and one died, though. :( (I did not know of these until experience!)

Oh, I see. I think I'd be too terrified to lose the egg, lol. I think I'd only try it on my mint egg right now since I don't really care for that breed anyway. Who knows? I still have 5-6 days on all my eggs anyway. Thanks for the info. :)

Sevaede

That is reverse to the truth. Forcing a egg is extremely dangerous, and there is a slim chance it will actually work. Nearly everyone on the Dragon Cave forums say not to try it, as each person has only successfully done it once or twice.

Not so. I have done it successfully every single time except for once. Most people on the forums have *never* done it, and most wouldn't, but it is not high risk.

I have four dragons and four eggs...how can you go about looking at other people's scrolls without having to click on their direct link (like in the signature)? Is there a place to just browse scrolls? I know I have to have ten dragons to start rating descriptions, but I'm just wondering how to view scrolls at this point. :)

I haven't found a place to view a list of scrolls. You just have to click on the dragons on dragoncave.net or on dailydragonfix.com. Those are the two main sites I use. Other than that, you can go to the DC forum and find random threads. There, you can't put individual eggs/hatchlings in your signature. All you're allowed is a link to your scroll. And they're very particular about that. I've never seen a forum that enforces the rules as much as that one. It's kind of nice. :)

If you go to the DC Fansite, they list the scroll along with the eggs so you can click and browse if you want! Also, if you know the persons name you can go to www.dragcave.net/user/scrollname and browse that way too. :D

The forum is a little overwhelming, so I thought I'd ask you guys in here. One of my new eggs has a diagonal line going through it (I read that a dead egg will have a horizontal line through it). I don't recall seeing the diagonal line (it's not a jagged crack, it's a straight, clean line) before with my other four eggs. Any idea what it is? The egg has over four days left to hatch. Just curious...

DJFyrewolf36

Thats your egg in the first stages of hatching...perfectly ok! Check on your scroll to make sure it isn't sick though (just go to your egg and click view) if it says it is sick, just post your click/view count here and one of us could tell you whats wrong with it!

ETA: I just clicked your eggs and they are healthy :D You should have hatchlings soon!

FYI:

The daily dragon fix hatchery site is back up. I use that site exclusively to get my clicks/views and its worked great so far!

Daily Dragon Fix - A Dragon Cave Fansite (http://www.dailydragonfix.com/index.php)

If you want another site with more interaction with members (and the ability to browse scrolls if you wish) go to The DC Fansite.

http://www.thedcfansite.com/

Both sites are great and I really cant say one is better than the other. I use DDF more because it loads faster lol.

I just saw the winter ones for the first time last night. I also have 3 autumn ones and another egg on the way since all the adults I have are males. You know what's funny? I have a male and a female silver, and all of the 4 times or so I've tried to breed them (together and with others), they never have produced a silver egg. Grrr.

I'm convinced some dragons are just infirtile. I have a stone dragon that has NEVER once produced an egg and I think I've mated her to just about every male I have :p

I can't seem to get another stone egg from the cave either

Breed your Autumns...during the winter season they produce Winter eggs, and in turn the Winters will make Spring/Summer eggs :)

I saw on the DC forums that winters were concidered "common" due to the massive amounts of them, but I know several people who just can't seem to get one and they don't have any autumns to breed. If I breed another winter I plan on passing the joy lol. There are people with 5 plus autumns that refuse to share :(
