My SIL has an almost 18 years old cat, Tosca. She is sure that cats cannot get older than 18!
I keep trying telling her that we have lots of these cats here on PT, even healthy ones; but she refuses to believe me !

So, I need stories & pics of all PT cats, old 18 and older :)
Thanks!!

HI-YOU KNOW. I HAVE HAD FOUR CATS IN MY ADULT LIFE. CUDDLES-A GORGEOUS WHITE TURKISH ANGORA LIVED UNTIL 21 OR 22 IN HUMAN YEARS. I GOT HIM FROM FRIENDS IN THE CHRISTMAS SEASON I THINK IN "83. I HAD TO LET THE VET PUT HIM DOWN IN JAN OF 2005- HE WAS REALLY WEAK BUT WAS STILL SWEET. I ALSO HAD A BLACK ANGORA NAMES AMY WHO LIVED WITH ME ABOUT 15 YEARS AND PASSED AWAY IN EARLY '99. I HAD GOTTEN HER FROM FRIENDS A FEW WEEKS AFTER I GOT CUDDLES AND THEY BOTH WERE INDOOR CATS WHICH I FEEL IS THE KEY TO A LONG CAT LIFE. WELL I NOW HAVE PEPPER -A SHORTHAIR WHITE WITH SOME GRAY TABBY AND RINGTAIL-FEMALE. I QUICKLY ADOPTED HER BECAUSE I FELL FOR HER RIGHT AWAY WHEN A FRIEND ASKED ME TO WATCH HER WHILE SHE MADE ARRANGEMENTS FOR HER-SHE WAS A HOMELESS CAT. THAT WAS 'APRIL '99 AND I HAVE HAD HER ALMOST TEN YEARS NOW AND SHE IS A D-I-V-A !! MY TUXEDO CAT IS SAMMY-WHO TURNED 5 YEARS OLD ON THIS PAST SEPT 6 AND HE HAD A LITTLE BIRTHDAY PARTY AND THESE ARE BOTH INDOOR CATS AS WELL.SAMMY IS 18 LBS! I HAVE HEARD OF 24 YEAR OLD CATS AND AN OCCASSIONAL OLDER ONE. WELL HAVE A GREAT AUTUMN!:pSUSANSWATLIN518

Well, Leonardo turned 18 last month so he is "older" than 18 now. ;)

I can understand where your SIL is coming from though. Before him my oldest two cats had almost made it to 17 so I thought that was the oldest age they would get.

My friends kitty, Groucho, who recently passed, was 19. Here (http://petoftheday.com/talk/showthread.php?t=145835) is the thread before she passed. Pictures included on #15.

My Pigeon aka Pidgelet and Pidge, is 18 1/2 and, aside from a brief allergy to paint last year, she's never had a sick day since I rescued her at age 2 1/2. She has the sweetest disposition and, considering her start in life, that's amazing. She was dumped in my yard when she was in labor. All of her kittens were born prematurely and died shortly thereafter. She had every worm, flea, tic and mite that you could name but w/good vet care and lots of love, we got her all fixed up and she's been comfy and cozy w/the Fur Posse ever since. She's the one who put Ms. Puddy in her place when I first brought Puddy home at 5 weeks old. She put her big lion paw on Puddy's head and held it to the floor until Puddy stopped hissing and carrying on. Pidgelet spends her days sleeping, eating and sunning, all the things a senior kitty has earned the right to do. Here are a couple of pix:

My mom's one cat, Ashley, lived to be 23. She was healthy up to the end except for a tumor that developed on her skull. Other than that, she had no diabetes problems, no thyroid issues, nothing! She was spunky and funny, and raced around the house like a mad woman! She had been a stray, but we took her in when she was about 2-4 years old. Ashley was an indoor only kitty.

My cat when I had from when I was 5 years old was named Corvette. She was an indoor/outdoor kitty as we lived on a farm. Corvette passed away at the age of 21. That is a grand old age for a farm cat!

My sweet widdle Tabitha turned 20 this past June! She was a barn kitty, living in my (then-boyfriend, now ex-husband's!) parent's barn. She and I have been through A LOT in our days, and we have always been inseparable! She is my cuddle baby, my purr cat, but most of all, she is my heart kitty! She starts out the night curled up in my arm, and then moves to the side of my head and is there for the rest of the night, purring away. She wakes me whenever she feels the need for some fresh food in her bowl or a drink fromt eh bathroom sink.... never mind the time!

These days she sleeps most of the time. If she isn't on the bed then she is in my arms as I watch TV. I love my girl.... and I treasure each and every hour that we can spend together!

Jade, my tortoise shell cat lived to the age of 21. This picture was taken a few months before she passed away. I'm certain of her age too because I got her as a 7 week old kitten. :)

My Sam was 22 when he passed - and not only was he a purebred (Tonkinese), he'd been indoor-outdoor for most of his life he was quite mature when I first met him.

My RB Siamese Ming lived to be 20. He was the oldest of three and lived the longest. My sister-in-law catnapped him when he was about 6 months old and suffering abuse at the hands of the owner, and gave him to me. He was an indoor kitty but loved to occassionally sneak out the door and have me chase and catch him.
