Just came back from a trip to the cottage. You can really tell fall is almost here.

Woke up early yesterday morning and went down to the lake. The mist was just rising up.

I went to feed the chickadees. I think this one was trying to moon me. ;)

A bee trying to find that last source of pollen.

Found this plant, all dried up. I thought it looked quite elegant, like a natural Christmas tree. :)

The dried remains - a sure sign of fall around the corner.

A flower, past its prime.

All the pictures are great, but I  love  that first one. I can practically smell the lake and the mist, and love that time of morning when the world slowly reveals itself as the mist gracefully lifts away.

If you woke up early especially to take the pics, it was worthwhile! Thanks for sharing! I especially like the first one of the lake.

Awesome pics, really! I especially like the mysterious atmosphere of the first one!

Yes, fall comes early this year, it's weeks ago that the first leaves here started turning yellow, very unusual. Nature seems to be at least one month ahead, wonder why this is?

All of your pictures are drop dead gorgeous! I too, loved the first one.
How I would love to be standing at the end of the dock enjoying that early morning mist.

Thanks, everyone! :)

.... I can practically smell the lake and the mist, and love that time of morning when the world slowly reveals itself as the mist gracefully lifts away.

Early morning and just before dusk is like heaven on earth at my cottage. It's right before and right after all the boats and the noise of the cottagers. I took this shot at 7:30am and it felt like I was the only one there.

It's a shame, but I only went to the cottage 2 times this summer. I have vacation on the 18th and 19th of this month and will go back up. If I get any interesting pics, I'll share. ;)

I use a Canon Digital Rebel. The lens for these pictures is the Canon 100mm.

Thanks, Kirsten!
Here, in Southern Ontario, we barely had a summer! We set a record for the most rain and we didn't really have hot weather at all. It feels like an early fall also, but I don't mind since I love the season.
