Tomorrow, it's time again for my MRI scan of the brain, more precisely, of the pituitary gland where I have a little tumor. It needs to be checked every once in a while, and the last scan is more than two years ago now. :o

I'm always very nervous when I have to face this, not only because the tumor could have grown and needs to be removed, I also fear the possibility of having developed other brain tumors in the meantime. Dealing with headaches and constant nausea all the time, I'm a bit worried about this.

Well, guess 24 hours from now, I will know. Please keep your fingers crossed for me that they don't find anything bad!

Thanks,
Kirsten

Kirsten,

You will be in my prayers tomorrow, honey. I know only too well what you'll be going through, having been through it with my daughter Amy.

Oh, but it's always fun to see one's brain in slices, don't you think?

We'll be thinking of you!

Thank you! It's very appreciated!

Barbara: Good luckwith yours! Well, I skipped mine last year, but now it's really about time!

Donna: How's Amy doing? Hope she's well...

Karen: Well, hope the scan will show that I'm still having a brain after all... ;)

Hugs to you Kirsten.

If they find ANYTHING at all, I hope it is something easily treated that will get rid of your headaches once and for all.

Your furry nurses will look after everything else.:love:

Kirsten, my thoughts and prayers are with you tomorrow and Marigold has all of her paws crossed for you, too. I just had an MRI done on my brain a few weeks ago to see if there was anything there causing my Parkinson's. It showed everything was okay. {{{{HUGS}}}}!

Thank you all for your prayers and support! As so many times before, PT prayers seem to have worked! :)

I'm just coming back from Kassel where I had the MRI done, and the tumor hasn't changed its size. It's still very small and did not grow through the years. The rest of my brain looked fine as well. :D

Now there's the question whether the tumor is hormone-active or not. It could be that some of my problems are related to it, but it doesn't necessarily have to be the cause, so it's hard to tell whether surgery would make sense. After all, its a risky thing to do. Need to discuss that with the endocrinologist when I go there the next time.

Great news Kirsten. You'll ALWAYS be in my prayers, as is my daughter. You are a very strong person and I hope they can find a way to stop the nausea and headaches. It took us a year to get my daughter to a specialist (ENT) who misdiagnosed her with a sinus infection.

That is great news! I hope that you can find out soon the cause of your Headaches and Nausea. Remember to keep lots of aspirin in the house!

Kirsten, when I had my tumor they thought first it could be at the pit. gland as it was very close. So I went to see a hormone specialist. I remember that he said a tumor of this gland is difficult to get out as the gland itself is about the same size as the tumor. And if you hurt the gland the hormone consequences could be not so nice. You need these hormones to keep your weight e.g. and the substitution is so expensive -at that time more than 100.000 something per year (it should have been Deutsche Mark time, isn't it?)- that no insurance will come up with it.
So maybe leaving it as it is is the best solution.

Thank you all! It was such a relief, really. I always fear having the MRI done, because you never know what it shows...

Barbara, that's interesting information, thanks a lot. Looks like there are many things to consider re. such a surgery.
