My dog sits,lies,speaks,stays,dances,crawls,rolls over,flips snackie off of his nose, says i love you,plays dead,plays hide and go seek,paws it (were i put a snack like a foot from him and say paw it and he paws it towards him and gets it) thats all i can think of now if i remember more ill post them he has so many i cant remember!!!

My Australian shepherd knows how to sit, lie down, shake, give me "puppy hugs", give me "puppy kisses", fetch, is learning to roll over, is learning to play dead, and he plays a game where when a throw a stick, ball, etc. I cover his eyes and say "Find the stick(no matter what it is)!" and he goes and gets it. Sometimes if the ball is in the other dog's mouth I will tell him to find the stick and he will go take it out of the other dog's mouth!

Sorry to correct you, but things like sit, down, and stay are not tricks. These are training aids. Shake is a trick.

O.k., here's the list. They keep going and going. I'm sure that I will forget a few.

Sophie can:

High Five.
Wave Bye-bye.
Touch her face on command.
Up: I point at an elevated object and say
up. She will jump up onto that object.
Dance: She gets up on her hind legs and
walks around in a circle in place.
Shake, Shake, Shake: She shakes like she
has water on her.
Strike a pose: She lays on her side, puts
her hind leg back and pulls her front
leg up in a mock "lurid" pose.
Show me your B**bies/who's the boss?: She
lays on her back.
Roll over: Very shaky, she has to be in
the right mood.
Give me a kiss on command.
Speak/Kill: she barks violently at where
or who I point at.
Make poo-poos, make puddles: yes, she
does it on command!
Go See: She runs to the nearest window or
sliding glass door, barks, and looks
for what I wanted her to see.
Hold a treat on her nose, but she won't
catch it!

There's plenty more, but I'm sure that they will come to me later.

OK, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! We all LOVE, ADORE, and WORSHIP our dogs! Sit, stay etc may just be obedience commands but I sure know a lot of dog owners that never attempt to get to that point. They may not be "tricks" but they are accomplishments! I'm sure my dog is not as "brillant" as a lot of yours by doing tricks, but getting him to stay in a stay down position during dinner is our kind of trick! I think it's fantastic and awesome that your dogs can do all those incredible things and I don't begrudge any of you, but the fact that Cody runs to get help when my dad has a fall, is the greatest feat to us!! This is a fun website and we learn from each other and are entitled to our opinions. Let's keep this funny, fun, informative and friendly.

I look at every new skill as a "trick", even if I'm using the wrong term. These pups are amazing that they understand our commands, even when they don't talk like us! Of course, I just gloat over my two because I believe them to be the smartest dogs in the world!! And they can't do half the stuff you guys have mentioned.
Karen's right!!! This is a fun place and we just need to enjoy eachothers stories, whatever they are.

Ok, whoa! I did not mean that sit, down, stay, etc. was not an accomplishment! Where did you get that idea from! I did not mean to insult anyone or there babies! I was simply correcting you on term ussage (or if thats even a word). Lizzy, I think you took my comment the wrong way. My dog can only sit and lay down and stand and stay and shake with both paws. Even though most of them are not called tricks, they are acomplishments and I love her very much for them. She is one year old (we think, because we rescued her). We correct each other all the time on this site but we never insult each other.

Sorry to say but sit stay lay and things like that are tricks to me. Most animals cant do anything!! If someone my age (13) can teach a dog with out no obedience school or training school or dog pros or anyone that knows about dogs and Simba being my first dog I have taught him more tricks than the average dog I think he is the best dog in the world!!!

Basim, I am 13 too and Nikki is my first dog, too. I am not insulting anyone at all. Sit and down and stay, etc. are MAJOR ACOMPLISMENTS. They are more needed in your dogs life than tricks. Tricks are cute and funny. Training aids like sit could save your dogs life. It is REALLY good if you taught your dog these important skills without aid. Hi, I love teaching my three year old beagle tricks she knows alot but the one I like most is delivering the mail. She takes a letter walks over to the mail box (the ones that are posted on the side of your house,and open like a jewlery box) opens it with her nose drops the letter in and closes it with her paw. Then when asked to get the mail she will get it the same way she put it in. Everyone say's "you can't teach a hound anything" but when they see this trick they are speachless. I suggest you try it it's really cute to see.

First of all, according to the book:Teaching Tricks to dogs for dummies, all tricks and commands are the same. so everyone is right.
My dog is a silky terroist( I got that from someone on this site) and he can do:
among sit, stay,beg, etc.
he can roll over, shake hands, shake on command( his body)dances, gives kisses. He can take a bow. but, his two specialities are:
he does a show trick where if you put say a $1 bill in one hand and a $20 in the other and ask him which one he wants, he always takes the higher amount. I don't know how he does it!
Also, (I taught him as a pup to "sick" roaches.) I was living in Charleston, SC at the time and the Palmetto bugs are horrible. Now,( he is six years old) all I have to do is scream and he comes running, catches the bug in his mouth, carefully takes it "outside"(command) and "drops it" (another command). He is my best buddy!!!
