Regardless of the voting on the site, I hope they get a dog - of whichever breed - who will make them all happy, and won't aggravate allergies too much!

The Humane Society circled a petition a while back asking them to adopt. I hope they do!

will they still get this dog even if it doesn't end up the "first dog"? I hope they rescue regardless of the presidency.

Same here.:)

I wish they would go the rescue route & adopt from a shelter.:)
Shelters have all breeds available.:)

Yes, I recall an interview with the whole family, and the girls were asked by the interviewer what they were looking forward to, and the youngest immediately said, "A puppy!" As soon as the election is over, regardless of the results, the girls have been promised a puppy, for their patience with the whole campaign uproar. Both parents confirmed that.

I hope they spend time with a poodle or "rent" a poodle for a few days from a willing owner or breeder or shelter to see if it aggrivates the allergies or not. How sad would it be for the kids if they got a puppy only to find out they have to give it up after they get attached?
