"Cracked corn"

I have a sort of silly question...is "cracked corn" like what is in some bird food, really just cracked corn? Or is it a process. If I got some popcorn kernels and ran them thru a chopper is that cracked corn? Of course I don't mean microwave popcorn. Just the kernels you get in a bag? :confused:
