I'd never thought I'd made it, but from May on (since I went to the clinic) I really lost 15 kg, which is about 33 lbs, and I'm two sizes down with my clothes. I'm down from 97 kg to now 82, and I hope to lose 10 more. I have lost the first 10 kg very quickly, just by reducing fat and sugar, and only eating half as much as usual (1300 - 1500 calories/day). I'm also doing Nordic Walking now. Meanwhile, losing a kilogram takes much longer than at the beginning, which is sometimes frustrating. But I guess that's just the way it is.

Here are photos of now and then, and I hope you can already see a difference! LOL :D

On the minus side, losing weight always makes me look pale, ill and old. Even though my face was chubby, I think I looked 10 years younger than now.

Good job! You are not smiling in the picture from two weeks ago. I bet if you smiled you'd like it better.

I made that photo myself, holding my cam in front of my face. Guess one always looks a bit silly when photos are taken that way. LOL The first close up was made by my sister. Maybe she can take new ones of me when she's coming for a visit next weekend.

Kirsten you are a very good looking woman and I think you look great now! And ddid not even look too bad before.

Thanks a lot! :)

You must be tall- you don't look more than 65 kg now?

I'm 1,74 m, and 64 kg was my weight for a very long time. I could always eat as much as I wanted to, and it didn't do any harm. Things changed when I was in my thirties (which Hashimoto's and everything), suddenly I gained weight very quickly.

This is how I looked 12 years ago, weighing 64 kilograms:

Don't think I'll make it back to this, but 70 - 75 kg would be nice... :)

Kirsten, I think you looked great in the first photo - and not even that fat! ;)

It's good that you have lost some weight though, and it's seems to have gone around your waist. :D I was going to ask you how tall you are, but you already said that.

Up to when I was about 35, I weighed 49 kg and I'm 1,68 cm, but when John and I both were trying to gain weight, I put some on, but not John. I'm now 64 kg.

Keep living healthy and be patient! :)

Randi, yes, around my waist, breasts, face, and legs. Hard to lose the fat that's on the belly! LOL :D

Yes, some people just don't gain weight, no matter how much they try. And I think 64 kg is not too much for someone of your height.

Yes, and the older you get, the more difficult it is to lose weight. ;) Never mind, as long as I can zip my pants up! :D

I may share some pics tomorrow from my skinny period.

Forgot to say, from 78 - 79 I litterally lived on yougurt - that works!!

So true, and it's also easier to gain it! ;)

Would like to see your photos! :)

You look great. Don't think you look older, just the diiferent hairdo, darker clothes and no big smile. Bet if you take another picture with pastels, fix your hair the same as in May and put a big smile on your face you'll notice a big difference. Step into a nice light background too, like the greenery in May.

Whenever I lose weight I always look around the house to make sure it's not hiding in between the sofa cushions or under a table!;)

You picked a good time to post about your weight loss...With the Olympics just ending I can do the conversions into metric easily!:D

Congratulations!

Firtstly CONGRATULATIONS, that is quite an achievement, BE PROUD of yourself, yes sadly as we age it gets harder to come off and the results take their toll on places we don't want like our face, i want to loose about ten kgs, but i am worried about the outcome on the face, as i am 50 now.

Sorry i could not see the before pics as it would not download on my computer, but you look great now, i don't think you looked bad before from what everyone else is saying.

Just be careful you don't loose too much, you look really good at the weight you are now IMO, but you have to be happy don't you? so here's to your continuing success.:)

WOW, Kirsten!!! What a huge achievement!! I am trying to loose weight too, but due to strong meds, it seems impossible to get rid of a few kilos...:(. It is like a yoyo!

Congrats Kirsten!!! You look great!!!:D I'm not good at the metric system so I'm not sure how tall you are or even how much you weigh now.

I'm about 5'10" and small boned and I've been blessed with a high metabolism. Now as I'm getting older, I've also been gaining some weight but it all goes towards my bottom half. I probably weigh about 143-145lbs right now and I was about 125lbs at my skinniest. I'm most comfortable at being about 135-no more than 140lbs though.

Kirsten,

You look fabulous!!! I'm still working on getting my excess baggage off. It'll take a whilel cuz I'm 55 and the older you get the more difficult it is to take it off. But I'm trying.

Great job!!!:love::love:

Kirsten, I don't get along very well with my scanner, so I gave up. I do have one bad photo where you get an idea how skinny I was. It was taken in a hotel room in Ibiza in 77.

Congratulations Kirsten! It did not take you so long to lose these kilos :)

Thank you! :)

Well, re. the metric system:

1,74 meters is 5'7 feet, I think.

97 kilograms, which was my weight three months ago, should be 213 pounds.
82 kilograms, my current weight, is 180 pounds, which makes a difference of 33 lbs.

Randi, you're right, you look really skinny in that picture. I think it's a good thing that you gained some weight meanwhile. :) Thanks for sharing the picture!
