The volunteers at http://www.imom.org are very busy these days. Hope you don't mind if I share some of their current cases.

Sassy http://www.imom.org/community/index.php?showtopic=4786 http://s15.photobucket.com/albums/a373/kuhio98/IMOM/th_SassyCountry.jpg
is a 14 year old black Lab, surrendered by her former owner because of her disability, which results from an injury to her hip. Her present owner has had her less than two weeks, having adopted her from rescue. Her Mom writes:

The Veterinarian assistant said "Here's Sassy" Sassy was turned over to the vet due to a hip injury and had no ability to walk in her hind legs.I looked into the kennel and looking up at me was the sweetest face ever. I said "Hi Sassy, do you want to come home with me?" Sassy scrambled forward and the assistant helped place a towel beneath her abdomen and we walked her to my car. I brought her home and introduced her to my other three labradors. They accepted her and by that evening I decided I'd like to adopt Sassy into my own family. So I did.

It's been so difficult though for Sassy and me as we have to use a hip sling, crudely made by me from a Walmart canvas bag, and Sassy is often dead weight. I knew we couldn't go on like this as I have arthritis among other physical problems, but I never once thought of giving her back or having her euthanized. Instead I thought of how I could help her. I asked, pleaded and begged at sites I'd googled. I called my local pet shelter, veterinary supply store..on and on.No response. I then found IMOM and there seems to be a glimmer of hope on the horizon. See, Sassy needs a wheelchair to make her life complete. Who knows? Maybe someday she'll be able to walk a little on her own. I don't have the money to purchase one because I'm on Social Security disability. My heart is rich, but my wallet is empty.

The good news is that all the funds were raised to get Sassy her wheelchair. Her Mom plans to post photos/videos of Sassy in action once it arrives, so make sure to keep the link to her thread handy. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a373/kuhio98/1top1.gif

Ongoing cases include: http://www.imom.org/community/index.php?showtopic=4808 Dewey http://s15.photobucket.com/albums/a373/kuhio98/IMOM/th_dewey.jpg
is an EMERGENCY. IMOM has pledge $500 to get Dewey treatment, but $581 is still needed.

Dewey is a 6 year old Lab mix who is extremely sick. Shannon, Dewey's mom took him to her regular vet yesterday. Vet believes Dewey may have been poisoned or has Leptospirosis and referred Dewey to a specialists. Unfortunately Shannon doesn't have any money to help Dewey and has contacted IMOM.

I called the specialists and was informed that from the information they received from Dewey's original vet he may not have much time and needs to be seen immediately. They sent us an estimate but stated the amount may change once they have examined Dewey.

Due to the urgency of Dewey's situation, IMOM made a pledge of $500.00 so Dewey can been seen today. Once we receive an update and new estimate I will post the information immediately. We do know that this is an emergency and Dewey needs our help.

Dewey and his mom are on they way to the specialist, Shannon will post as soon as she returns home but here is what she had to say about her boy Dewey:

Dewey has been my best friend and companion for the last six years. He is sweet and loving and was full of life until this has happened. My heart is breaking knowing that I at this particular moment do not have the money to get him the help he needs I am a big believer in what comes around goes around and I will do anything that I can to help any one in any way

If you can find any way to help me get through this I with all my heart promise to donate back all the monies and then some and any anything else I can do to help!

PeeWee http://www.imom.org/community/index.php?showtopic=4801http://s15.photobucket.com/albums/a373/kuhio98/IMOM/th_peewee_bovee.jpg
needs needs funds to fix his broken elbow. Look at that face! $1598 is needed to repair his broken elbow.

PeeWee is a 17 week old Pomeranian who broke his elbow when he fell off the seat of a semi-truck and hit the ground. Here is what his Mom has to say about him:

My puppy PeeWee is 17 weeks old he is a red sable Pomeranian. He weighs only 3.5 lbs and the most he will weigh will be about 4.5-5 lbs. He is in need of a really expensive surgery that I can not afford and don't know where I can possibly get that much money in time. He needs a fracture repair of his little elbow - the medical term is "Humous Fracture" The estimated cost is between $1598.00 to $1798.00. I fell in love him the first moment I saw him, I have had him since he was 4 weeks old. I have only had him for 13 weeks now. My veterinary clinic doesn't have any pay plans nor do other vets around me. PeeWee usually goes for rides in a Semi truck, but yesterday morning he was sitting on the seat and when the door was opened he lost balance off the seat and he fell all the way down to the black top on the road. I got him to the veterinarian as soon as I could. I hope we find some help to fix my little guy's leg.

Sierra http://www.imom.org/community/index.php?showtopic=4773http://s15.photobucket.com/albums/a373/kuhio98/IMOM/th_sierra_chesterfield.jpg
has a torn cranial cruciate ligament. The vet estimates the surgery will be $3129 - $3308.

Sierra is a gorgeous 9 yr old husky-shepherd girl who injured her leg during playtime in her backyard. She's in alot of pain and requires surgery.

A message from Sierra -

"I would love to be able to go for a walk with my dad and mom, or even just be able to go out and run in the yard like I used too. Since my knee started to hurt I spend alot of time just laying around. I am not able to be the dog I once was. The kids used to come and ask if I could come out and play. But now they know that I have a bad leg and can not play with them. I would really love to be able to have them come again and be able to go out and play."

Sierra's family also has a collection started on fundable.com to raise additional funds.

Baby http://www.imom.org/community/index.php?showtopic=4800http://s15.photobucket.com/albums/a373/kuhio98/IMOM/th_baby_martinez.jpg
Baby's family has already raised over $600 towards Baby's surgery. More funds are needed.

Baby is a cute 5 year old chihuahua/spaniel girl who is in a lot of pain due to her bladder stones. She means a lot to her family and her mom has worked hard to find assistance for her.

Hi all,
This is Baby's owner, Chris, sending a post to inform the readers on this website as to her condition. Baby continues to swat frequently, straining to urinate and it is obvious that she is still in quite a bit of pain. I have had her on a special prescription diet dog food, by the name of Hill's S/D dog food. This dog food is specially formulated to dissolve & decrease the size of her bladder stones within 4 - 6 months.
Our family has been informed by our veterinarian's office that this dog food will enable the smaller stones in her bladder to pass however, the larger stones will remain in her bladder unless she can get the surgery that she needs.
Baby's posting just went up yesterday but it is our family's hope that within a short period, we can get some funds raised to help her out with her surgery.
She is a gentle, compassionate, and loving animal and we would like to see her back to normal soon.
Any kind of contribution would be greatly appreciated.....
Thank you for taking the time to read Baby's condition and need.

Please keep IMOM (and fundable) in mind if you ever need to raise funds for vet care. And if you're fortunate to be in a position to be able to make a donation, it would be greatly appreciated. All donations are tax deductible.

Dewey's diagnosis has changed after consult with a specialist.

Dewey has Diabetic Ketoacidosis. If anyone has any experience with this, I'm sure his Mom (and iMOM) would love to hear about it.

iMOM is trying to raise $988.00 to help Dewey.

From IMOM today:

Angels,

Dewey is literally fighting for his life right now. Last night, the vets were suggesting he might need to be PTS and this morning, they asked us what we wanted to do because the bill could grow into the thousands. We had a choice: tell Shannon we couldn't raise enough funds and to let Dewey go, or take a risk on raising the funds and hoping Dewey would pull through. She wasn't giving up on Dewey, and Dewey wasn't giving up either, so how could we? We have to raise more funds for Dewey to continue treatment. Please, please, please, if you have anything to spare, help us help him to come home. If we don't have the money, they will have to stop treatment. He's come so far and we can't let him down now. Please help get him back to sleeping with his Mommy. That's where he wants to be more than anything.

Some good news this morning:

Dewey http://www.imom.org/community/index.php?showtopic=4808&hl= is home and they are getting his insulin regulated.

All funds have been raised for Pee Wee and they are scheduling surgery. http://www.imom.org/community/index.php?showtopic=4801&hl= Surgery scheduled for August 6.

There is a matching challenge going on for Sierra Chesterfield. http://www.imom.org/community/index.php?showtopic=4773

Update from Baby's Family today:

Good Morning All,

Hope that all of you are having an awesome weekend. I wanted to update you all of Baby's condition. Yesterday I spoke with her veternarian's office and they informed me that not only does she have bladder stones, but she also has a bladder infection and a staph infection. Thay have placed her on some medication by the name of 'clavamox' and she needs to take two tablets a day. The veterinarian also insisted that she get her surgery right away!!!
All of you have been so wonderful in terms of concern and donations......if there is any possible way that we can meet our goal - I believe we only have about $240 or so left to raise!
Baby has been so patient but is still in so much pain.
Please consider helping our baby get better.

Thank you all for everything you have been able to do in order to restore Baby's health. If she could she would bless you with kisses just the way she does to our family each and every day......

-Chris Martinez

Echo http://www.imom.org/community/index.php?showtopic=4827
is a Lhasa Apso that needs a Cystotomy. IMOM is trying to raise $650 for the procedure.

Her Daddy (Kevin) writes:

Echo is a a 4 yo. Lasha Apso. He currently has stones in his bladder. He had two blocking the urethra making it diffucult to go to the bathroom. A procedure was done to move the two to the bladder with the other twenty or so. This is a tempoary fix it was all we could afford and it is only a matter of time before they go back down to the urethra. Echo just had surgery on July 8th to remove his eye due to a severe eye infection. Due to the eye surgery and other financial issues we are having diffucalty coming up with the funds for the surgery.
