Franklin has been hanging out with Tehya during the day. He figured out she gets a treat to go in the pen in the morning. She actually gets a treat because she lives with Chum and he has to take his thyroid meds in the morning. Chum, Tehya and Pacer generally hang out together while I'm at work. Franky gets along with those three so I haven't been arguing with him about where he spends the day. He's a nice boy.
Tonight when I got home, an hour later than usual cuz I went grocery shopping, Franklin was in the parking area! We have a double gated driveway. Both gates are kept closed all the time and we park in between them. It's just a little extra husky containment system!
Everyone else is still in the back pen. I can't see where Franklin got out. There's no phone messages that someone brought him back. I don't know if Franklin would go to a stranger He can be quite shy, but he's come a long way. He does have ID on his collar with our address and two phone numbers. He's not hurt, no quills or anything. Just hanging out waiting to get back in the yard! It looks like he might have dug under the man gate to get in, but it's not a very big gap. The bottom of the man gate is lined with cinder blocks. The cinder blocks were moved a bit, but he still really would have had to squish and wiggle to get under there. There is definately some dirt kicked around though!
I'm very glad he's home. If he spent the day loose, I'm also thrilled that he's not hurt and that he knows how to get to the front. Franklin has never been out that gate! The dog team always leaves from the back of the yard and I never walk down the road. I take the trail out to avoid the neighbor's rottie and horses.
Franklin is not an escape artist. He's lived here for over six years and I can remember one other escape when a windstorm knocked a tree into the fence, before the entire place was fenced. All the dogs, I think there were 9 at the time, got out. Franklin was the first one home. A friend stayed here while I went husky hunting. I found Earle; when I brought him home, my friend said "I hope you have a black and tan dog cuz I just let one in your house! It was Franky.
I'm very confuzzled as to how he got out there and why no else went with him. You'd think Little Miss Trouble, aka Tehya, would have followed if there was an escape route. Weird, just weird.
